Any USA ladies here?? (or others who have lived in the states)

Arkansas!! : )

We have a 4 year old son, and are expecting DS #2 via c-section on October 23rd.

I absolutely understand what you mean about the vocabulary! When I first joined BnB, I was like, "What in the world is a pram??" Google has been my friend with the lingo.

Central Oklahoma born and raised!

I'm currently working on #2 :) We already have a 21 month old son. My DS was a late scheduled C-section due to his estimated size and not wanting to drop at all.(He was born at 40w3d) So this next one will most likely be C-section as well. I've been going back and forth between a repeat and VBAC, I keep going back to the repeat.

NY here... not the city though...

When I found out I was pregnant, I switched from my OBGYN to a midwife and am so thankful I did. I'll be delivering in a hospital that is very natural friendly and has birthing pools for labor and delivery. My goal is no epi.

Long Island, NY here. I am having a hospital birth using a midwife. I think it's the best of both worlds

I am from Ohio and will be having a hospital birth with a midwife. I am also hoping for medication free birth like I had with my daughter.

I am from Arizona! Pregnant with my first :) I posted in the "meetup section" to see if anyone else is from AZ a month ago, but no responses.

Hello from Texas. I floated the idea of a homebirth to my husband after watching the Rickie Lake documentary, but he said no way. I'll be giving birth in a hospital, with an epi that I plan to ask for as soon as they'll give it to me. I'd love to go pain med free, but after almost not being able to have an epi with my son and being in very painful labor for hours, no thanks to that, epi please, lol. I was very amused to hear a lady refer to lady parts as "minnies" as that is my last name, lol. I can't believe my last name means vaginas, my husband was like Awesome. Hahahaha. I love the way uk ladies talk though, especially that they call other ladies love and lovely.

LOL! The name coincidence made me laugh--that is too funny! Being from the south, I feel like if I spoke in person with some of the ladies I talk to on here, they'd probably struggle to understand my accent, let alone our different vocabulary lol.

I'm from NE Indiana, pg with # 5!! I would LOVE , LOVE , LOVE a water birth, but unfortunately the only free standing birth center is out of network for our ins. :( we do have tubs in the birthing rooms that we can labor in. I'm actually in the process of choosing a new dr. The one I have currently is already pushing me toward a c-section when I truly don't feel it's necessary. She is fairly young, and inexperienced. Looking for a new one who isn't such a nervous nelly, lol. As far as the lingo, I'm not an expert, but I spent some time after high school near Paris as a nanny, so met lots of people from the UK, so I'm mostly familiar with the lingo. I do find myself using it more, too, lol.

I currently live in Nor Cal. I consider myself "from" So Cal, but also grew up in Nor Cal and the PNW. I also lived in NC, briefly in SWVA and Atlanta before moving back to the West Coast last spring. I currently live in Sacramento with my new husband (remarried in March).

I am pregnant with my fifth, his first, and this will be my third time planning a homebirth.

I'm also from Missouri, but we'll soon be moving to central Illinois. After years of TTC, I'm pregnant with my second child. The hospital near my current house does offer things like water birthing pools, but I had a very good experience with a typical epidural birth last time so I plan to stick with that.

Where abouts in central IL are you going to be moving to?

I am from Illinois, born and raised :)
My husband is in the military and we have been to Texas, Guam, California, and Illinois as apart of military orders.
He, on the other hand, has been all around the world- Ireland, Germany, Kyrgyzstan, Japan, and all across the U.S.

What area are you from?

I am also in Illinois. Orginally from west central IL (quincy). I had DS1 there. Now I live in northeast central IL (just north of Bloomington/normal). Pregnant with my second (OH's first). I kind of wish I was still living down in Quincy having this little one, only because I know that hospital and how they run things.

Born and raised in Florida. Baby #3 for me. I also have only done hospital births. Its safer IMO in case there's an unexpected complication. :flower:

I live deep in the heartland. We have a freestanding birthing center in my area, the rooms are larger and you get to labor, deliver, and recover all in the same room; you get offered a few more options like walking and birthing balls but they don't have a huge tub for you to labor in. The main difference is that in the hospitals you get moved to a different room for recovery and they take on higher risk patients so you see more interventions.

I've delivered both with an epidural and completely drug free. I prefer going natural, recovery is SO much easier; hopefully I can manage the pain well on my own again this time.

I'm from KS too! Are you in the KC/Topeka area??

And once I get preggs I'm planning on a home birth, for which I am VERY excited!

We'll be in Champaign. It seems decent enough, lots of nice people, but it's way smaller than I'm used to. Hopefully, it will be a nice place to live. I still need to find a new doctor there, though. Not looking forward to that.

Not that it really matters, lol, but my both my parents are from central IL. Mom grew up in east Peoria and dad in Eureka and then champaign/ Mahomet area. I still have loads of family there. We live in Fort Wayne, IN.

On my first baby and in the heart of Kentucky, lol.

I know what you mean about the lingo though. Love the women here but sometimes I need google to translate. Lol

I'm from Kentucky as well .. I'm on baby #2. I made friends with ladies with my first, some from the UK and it took me a while to figure outwhat things meant but were all still friends so I've figured it out :) !!!!

Yeah Champaign isn't too bad. That's about 2 hours south of me. It's still a pretty big city though, especially with the university there. I had the shock of moving from Quincy to here, going from 46000 people to 12000. Though I work in Bloomington/Normal, and that's even bigger than Quincy. I understand not looking forward to finding a new doctor. I dreaded that after moving up here, and still kind of unsure about it, even though, i do like my OB, I was just used to Quincy, and the clinic I went to, plus the hospital.

Lol small world :) My ex is from East Peoria, which DS1 lives with him there.

Missouri girl here from the kc area! We're a little less than an hour away from Topeka! About 45 minutes or so!

I gave birth in a hospital with an epidural with my son and will be doing the same this time, assuming I have time. And assuming I make it due to freaking out about the damn peach recall. :dohh:
