how do you find it?

I work 3 full days a week, my 2 children go to a childminder, I dont drive so its a pain as the childminder is a 30 min walk, we leave the house at 7:10, i get to work at 9, finish at 5, then by the time im home its 7, and they are straight in bed...

finding it a struggle atm, miss the kids, aswell as im currently going through court as my daughters dad wants access set in stone (even though i let him see her whenever he wants!!!)

I dont find it hard physically, we have a lovely little routine and we work as a team together but emotionally i am :(

Hi I work full time, however am still on maternity leave for another 3 weeks. I work from 9 in the morning to 9 the next morning. Its classed as 16 hours because we go to bed in work at 12 until 8am and are on call overnight. I am planning on doing two of these overnights a week and taking on day leave a week to make up my hours. I am hoping I will get my hours reduced to 32 so I can just do 2 sleepover shifts and thats it. I debated whether to do 5 days 9-5 or the sleepover shifts, as my rota is flexible, however in the end I decided it would be better for me to be at home with my son 5 days a week even if it means 2 full days and nights away. He has to see his daddy anyway so I may as well be workign those days. The plan is I will drop him to childminders around 8.30 and go to work for 9. He will stay with her until 3.30 or 4 when his dad will collect him and keep him overnight. I will collect him before 9am next morning so my ex can get to work. Thank god I drive I can't imagine how else I would do it. I am planning to go back to uni next year to do midwifery so until then I will just save like a demon.

I find it ok but I only work part time over four days. I appreciate the travel is easier for me because I drive xx

Its not hard physically, i love it, and i love how close me and my kids are, we are really like a little team together, my eldest helps loads in the mornings etc. its just hard emotionally, physically draining, and i go to bed at like 8! i wouldnt have it any other way though! i dont know how people work full time, take my hat off to you, i really do xxx

I work full time, leave the house at 7am, get back in at 7pm 3 days a week and 8pm 2 days a week. I wish I didn't have to work so much but needs must and I'm hoping Aisling will be ok about it as she gets older :(

I work and I feel your pain.

I work an hour away meaning me and the girls get up at 7 to get them to the baby sitters for 8 to get me to work for 9 then I'm done at 5 get home at 6 and bed times 9 so it doesn't leave me much time for the girls. But I know they will be proud of me and that I'm doing this for them. I also don't drive so I have to car pool and rely on my parents to help me pick the girls up.

I work Wed-Sun 2pm to 10:30pm. My job is around 30 minutes away so I have to leave my house by 1pm. I am also required to work mandatory overtime so end up working around 48 hrs (if not more) a week.

Its really hard to be away from my kids. I hate it! But I am doing it and one day they will understand. I am trying to go to nights so I have more options and times to spend with the kids. I can go without sleep a few days of the week. My grandma would watch the kids for me like she does now and she stays with me so it is an easier situation to work around. xx

i'm probably going to sound an awful mam :haha: but i worked 5 days a week, 4 hours a day. Jooj was in nursery 8.30-2pm & i worked 9.30-1.30pm. Jooj loved nursery & although i did miss him, i was actually glad of the break & to have adult conversation x x

^^ I miss my kids but I LOVE getting a break. :haha: And I think that is completely normal and understandable for anyone as a lot of the time I am stretched thin with them. xx

I work 4 days a week and im usually out of the house 12 hours a day :( I enjoy working though and hope that my commitment to working and having a good routine will be a good standing for the children as they get older.
