So I know that my LO is head-down, and has been for quite a while...normally you'd think this would be reassuring, but nope, not for me! :nope: Even though I don't have to worry about using a pilates ball, or pelvic tilts, etc., to try and turn a breech baby....I'm now constantly worried that I'm going to do something to cause my LO to flip breech at the last minute, with no time for her to turn back! So now I worry that sleeping on my right side, or sitting hunched forward, or any of a number of normal things will somehow get my little girl to turn the wrong way. Please, somebody tell me this is entirely unreasonable! Am I worried for no reason, or can they flip the WRONG way at the last minute, too?

Unfortunately they can flip last minute, but there is not a great deal you can do about it, my lo turned breech again last week and then turned back. Am pretty sure she is back to back as well. They can change position right up to the last minute so try not to worry and believe things will be alright!

I worry about this also! This is my 3rd and i am trying for a VBAC, so am desperate for my baby to remain head down! Every morning when i get up i check that my baby's heartbeat is in the same place (my low right hand side!)
I to have 'THE PARANOIA' hun!
Hope your LO remains head down xxx

they can an do flip last minute as I discovered 4 weeks ago when I gave birth to my first baby.

He had been head down from 33 weeks. He was born 4 days overdue.

I had a 32 hour labour, got to 9cm dilated on just gas and air only to be told he had gone back to back last minute and my cervix couldn't dilate that last cm! So had to get emergency section, despite me begging them not to, getting to 9cm 32 hours of pain only to end up with a section was devestating for me.

I hope ur LIL one stays put for u! Good luck xx

As the others have said baby can move, however if this is your first and baby is engaged baby tends to stay engaged because of how tight your muscles are, so it's highly highly unlikely that baby will come out and go breech.

Baby can however change position whilst being head down as others have said. Mines been changing between correct to back to back for the past two months. But unless your mw tells you this I really wouldn't panic about your sleeping positions etc, its unnecessary worry when this might not even happen to you. Even if it does then there's plenty you can do to get baby to move before labour.

Xx

The farther along you are and in a first PG the less likely they are to turn. I have a breech and I am 34w1d. I have a smaller baby in there and this is my 4th so I have a combo that hopefully gives him more of a chance of turning on his own. I will have a growth and position scan at 35-36w. and if he is still breech we will try an ECV at 37 weeks. It is possible they might wait another week to do the ECV and then induce me right after so that baby stays head down for delivery. I'll wait and see. Just hope the little guy turns on his own. I'm not worried. I feel like if he doesn't turn that they will likely have success with the ECV.

I am totally obsessed. My first was breech and the ECV was unsuccessful (=emergency c-section). Every day I try to guess how she is positioned, where the hiccups are originating, etc. I swear she is transverse (sideways) now. Can't wait for my appt and the dr to tell me everything is okay. Unfortunately, they can still flip at your stage - even up to the end. I think it is great that you are considering options, but I wouldn't obsess about it. In the end, it will all work out. Whatever it takes to get a healthy baby is worth it :-)

Well I am paranoid that the midwife and sonograpgher are wrong LOL.

Even though they tell me baby is and has always been head down I don't believe them, I think he/she is transverse.

I think its natural to worry, most of my mate's who have had kids say they did the same. Try to to worry to much

Baby can turn at any time! Last Wednesday I was told baby is fully engaged and today at 39+4 I have just been told he is breech! I use my ball allllll the time but looks like baby is going to do what he wants!!

Bummer! I hope he flips back for you just in the nick of time!!!

Oh man, I am obsessed too! i am constantly trying to work out which way he is facing etc etc!

My first was in the same (good) position for two months, and this time, baby keeps rolling from side to side, and spends time back to back too.
hmm... maybe if i hold my tummy tightly in he should stay in the good position! I wish!

It can upset me when he doesnt move from back to back, but i am just trying to 'relax' about it as I can't predict whats going to happen when its most important.
