Hello everyone! I had a lap; endometrial cysts in both ovaries removed, adhesions of ovaries to uterus and walls etc cleaned up and an HSG to check the tubes.
My surgeon ended up spending a couple hours longer then planned cleaning me up, so I assume it was a mess although I didn't ask what stage.
I was scared of being under anesthesia! I cried waiting for them to hook me up. I found the waiting is really the worst part and there wasn't anything to worry about!
They gave me pills or a shot (?) to take the edge off before they rolled me back, which worked fast! I remember seeing the operating room they wheeled me into, my doctor and anesthesiologist talked about McDonalds, and then I was out. I woke up wondering how they did the surgery that fast and if I had really already had it!
As far as recovery, I was very nauseous for a couple days. The first night I stayed in a reclining position on pillows and experienced no pain in my shoulder until I went to lie on my back and wow, I nearly hyperventilated from the pain. My nurses weren't happy that I wasn't lying flat, but I felt so much better and I don't think it affected my recovery. I also rocked in a rocking chair the next day to help get the gases moving which helped. Aside from general soreness, it took about a week for my energy to return.
My Doctor performing the surgery is my OBGYN, not a fertility specialist, mentioned Lupron treatment which we declined. We tried from July until now naturally, and we are about to begin IUI's with Femara, Oviderel, and progesterone supplements next month.
Upon speaking to the FS (and reading up on endo since then) I'm very thankful we did not do the Lupron! If I could change anything, I would have sought treatment in the first six months, since my endo symptoms have started returning... Live and learn!
Sex after surgery? My doctor cut us off for two weeks. I wasn't out from under medications to have the wherewithal to pee on my own that night, the next day my abs were useless and I still needed help getting off the couch. I would try to get a BD in as close to surgery as possible!
