Hi all,

I am 8 weeks pregnant today with my first, and for the past week I have had the biggest stomach ever.

I know most of it must be bloat. But I am so big all the time. Even when I wake up first thing in the morning I am huge!

I have been eating more than usual (to stop myself feeling queasy) so it is possible I have put on some weight, but this stomach as large and hard and round and well uncomfortable!

I am usually a size 10 and none of my trousers fit anymore. I have just bought some size 12 jogging pants with elasticated waist and hoping these will last a while. I am not buying maternity clothes already, not unless I have to. I have even had two people ask me "Am I pregnant" and "when is my baby due?" I have actually had to lie, as we aren't telling anyone yet.

It is not that I don't want a bump, I can't wait! I just can't deal with the "you shouldn't be looking like that at only 8 weeks, something must be wrong, i don't believe you etc etc"

Anyone else experiencing this?

I'm only 5 weeks and I'm big too! I'm starting to think it's twins.

I'm only just over 4 weeks and i feel massive. My mum actually said to me today was i sure it wasn't twins lol x

The bloat comes and goes. At 5 weeks it was ridiculous, then at 6 weeks it went away and nausea came. And now it varies, when I eat I get a huge bloat, in the mornings sometimes I'm flat, sometimes I'm huge. Its just all the lovely hormones!

I think I'm starting to get a little bump. It was all bloat for me the first few weeks. But now I'm about 10 weeks and my stomach is getting a little firmer. I don't think it's much bloat anymore. But then again this is my second.

I was huge at 8 weeks (was in maternity pants by 6 weeks). It's just bloat. My mom was convinced I was having twins as they run in our family. It did go down and eventually I got a real bump. It's just one of those weird things. For me though, I found a lot of it was gas and constipation - adding some prunes, psyllium husk, and a cup of coffee a few days a week really helped with the bloat.

Me! Sitting at my desk after lunch (1/2 a wrap sandwich and grapes) and feeling like a fat cow. :shy: I know it's mostly bloating, it can't be baby this early! But this spare tire thing is not sexy. I have started wearing more dresses because my pants were getting uncomfortable. Ugh.

I understand I'm a bigger girl to start with but i could tell right off that i was getting bigger. at 8weeks none of my jeans were big enough for me to wear, and like many others i thought maybe its twins but nope. I don't have my weight in the stomach its more in the pelvic area, which is where the baby is. I am now wearing all types of new cloths. At about 5weeks i needed new shirts, like none of them fit anymore due to my breast swelling. The thing is this is just the tip of the iceberg.

im 4 weeks and was literally JUST looking at my huge belly in the mirror before i saw this thread lol. i carry all my weight in my belly anyways but i can usually suck it in or hide it...its impossible to suck in now and its heavy and round lol not flabby like usual LOLOL ive been drinking a lot of water though so maybe its that.

Yup, my bloat is huge - this is my fourth so I'm guessing my stomach muscles are all stretched out and used to pregnancy so I'll be showing (instead of just looking bloated) very soon!

im 6 weeks and so bloated i feel like such a slob right now lol, my buttons are undone and my trousers are still tight and iv already gone up a cupsize yipeeeeeee!!
iv also been asked twice am i pregnant and told i look pregnant in my face...watever that means...iv been walkin round tryin to cover my face with my hair thinkin iv a fat face all day ha ha such a paranoid girl!!! thanku progesterone for my extra sensitivity.
also anyone else getting light cramps and ligament pains? this concerns me slightly?

I can certainly join the bloated club!! :dohh:

I have very few pairs of pants that I can actually wear anymore, and I had to break down and buy a pair of stretchy waist dress pants for teaching, because I have such a long commute and couldn't manage to sit that long in my other pants!!

Somedays the bloat is better than others, but I'm definitely starting to wonder how much longer I'll be able to hide it before people start asking me if I'm pregnant! We were hoping to hold off till 12 weeks to tell people, so we've got a few more to go yet!

I have some ligament pain sometimes, usually when I stretch or turn at the waist. Nothing serious, but certainly enough of a twinge to know that things are stretching and growing! :flower:

Yes i do! i'm 9 weeks and have had a big bloat throughout. when i've told people i'm pregnant they are surprised as i look further along. i have know idea when it'll start being a baby bump and not a bloated bump.

i can't help but stick it out and rub it as though it is a baby bump though heehee!

I was traveling for work from 7-10 weeks and so I definitely used the 'I'm pregnant' excuse lots of times with strangers, but I totally had to lie about how far along I was because it was so embarrassing how huge I looked. I probably look about as big now or even smaller at 16 weeks, which is a relief.

I had massive bloating probs around 8 weeks..it actually made me feel really uncomfortable but now Im back to normal. Well I suppose I start the day all nice and quite flat then as the day goes on,i seen to get bigger and bigger and look like Im having twins again by the evening..cue mega comfy pjs!

I am wearing maternity clothes already and I am 8 weeks 6 days (almost 9 weeks)....people tell me "You have a HUGE belly" (we have announced the pregnancy already). The Dr. said is part bloating and part the fact that is my second baby

Lots of responses thank you!

I'm glad I am not the only one. I am feeling a bit more comfortable now as I have bought trousers with stretchy waistlines and am trying to wear more baggy clothes to hide it.
I think it does depend on what you eat in the day too, and also I am suffering from constipation which cannot help!
I have a real problem with eating vegetables in that I can't eat any! This is surely not good for either me or the baby but I seriously cannot stomach it! I am usually such a healthy eater, always watching what I eat and eating lots of veg, but now I am drawn to crisps, chips, chocolate, fizzy drinks, anything unhealthy! I can't seem to stomach anything else. So again, this cannot help with the bloat.

I have been having some twinges in the abdomen but I am guessing this is just stretching. And i find that if I do too much or stand too much one day, I do start to have a bit of cramping, so then I make myself sit down and take it easy.

I hope all you girls are sailing through your pregnancies...I know one thing for sure, bet we all can't wait to have our scans and see our babies for the first time! I am counting down the weeks, another 4 weeks to go :)
