Anyone else actually looking forward to the budget thingy tomorrow?

https://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/the_daily_politics/

Its not very 'in depth' but you get he jist :o

knew it! I said yday this is their 1st year, it'll get worse and worse.

I saw it on ITV news .. 26k household income 2012.

Cant say im surprised .. but cmon thats 2 people earning 13k BEFORE tax .. its madness.

After him saying he wouldnt hide anything from us - im losing faith after being so optimistic yesterday :(

25-30k will be on reduced rate and 30k+ will be scrapped. FAB! When that happens guess I'll be becoming a SAHM cos it wont actually be worth me going out to work  what a joke.

Thats what I thought. The thing is, the starting salary for most basic admin jobs in my area is 13-14K so at this rate people will be dreading promotions!!

And there they were yesterday saying how they're increasing the insentive to work!?

I hate the torys, i really do. They're going to ruin everyone who doesn't earn a million a year.

Whats more annoying is that some people, like myself, who have been struggling the past few years at college/uni to better themselves are gonna end up having done it for nothing. Childcare is sooo expensive. Im really gutted. At least if he had announced this yesterday I could respect our so called chancellor but he knew what reaction this would get and obviously chickened out... I knew there had to be a catch.

I'm sorry but i dont see what the big deal is my hubby earns almost 30k and we only get £40 a month anyway so surely it wont make much difference to people??

Also this isnt happening till 2012 so you've got plenty of time to prepare and work things out for example blah your little girl will be 3 in 2012 (i think) so she'll be entitled to a free nursery place for so many hours a week so that will help you out a little bit.

Perhaps contraversionally, i feel that if they are thinking of lowering the threshold for TC to 40k, they should actually reduce it a lot more anyway. There is little difference in someone earning a wage of 35k, or 40k, so why should the 35k worker get TC and the 40k worker not.

As someone who is set to lose TC's i don't see why the money should be taken away from my family and given to a family who earn lower.

Jump on me if you wish but it's how i feel right now.

an extra £400 a month makes a difference. That would almost pay my mortgage...

i agree babyblog i think they could have done it a different way so we all lose something for example cut it by a percentage for eveyone or something

In the same vain, why should a family like mine, who has about 8k a year coming in, lose out so that families who have more than 4 times that coming in can have a bit extra?

I know, i think it could have been fairer-it seems mad to me that have raised the child element part by £150 for some families-, whilst taking the whole lot away from other families completely

yea although i do agree with them taking it away from families earning over 60k

I didn't say anything about taking money away from lower income families to give more to higher income families. I just think either cut it from all, or from none.

I got the impression you were saying rather than keep the tax creds in place for low incomes, and taking it off high income families, that they should have kept giving it to everyone still, but reduce it for all familes. Which would basically be reducing tax creds for low incomes so taht they could afford to give it to higher income families still..

I know amelie will have free nursery space/money towards her fees but we're TTC now so we'll have another LO to put in nursery. We get £475 tax credits so it'd make a huge difference to us.
