Anyone else actually looking forward to the budget thingy tomorrow?

Never even heard of 'free swimming', obviously doesn't exist around here. Pleased with the decisions though, I think it'll mark the start of a slow change.

No we don't get free swimming round here either, as far as I know!

my sister doesnt even get free swimming, and no other school round here offers free swimming... so i dont see that as a huge thing

I didn't know any schools got free swimming!? I pay £9 a week for swimming at school! School dinners would be £37.50 a week for me if there was no free meals!!

HB was changed ages ago so that you could only claim for the amount of bedrooms taht you're entitled to? So how do ppl claim for mansions!?

I only get £150 a week, and altho thats apparently worked out on the average prices of 3beds in my area... in real life that is nowhere near enough to be able to rent a 3bed in this area! I've spent the last 6 years with all my 3 children squeezed into 1 bedroom because of this!

That was only for new claims. If you had an existing claim, it stayed the same so people in massive houses carried on getting loads of money.

£37.50 a week? would you not be cheaper sending them to school with a packet lunch?

Wonder if they will scrap the free school meals for the p1 - 3 in scotland.

Most pools offer free swimming for kids, they introduced it a couple of years ago. You have to go in and fill in a form. I think its under 12's or something like that, and you have to take your TC's thing or something.

So millionnaires can still claim child benefit? That doesnt make sense!

HB IS max £400 a week... that's ridiculous!

How is that ridiculous? some people live in mansions and get housing benefit of £1000s

Just seems ridiculous that people can be given £1600 a month towards a house. That's got to be one fancy house!

It's a bloody joke and it makes me so very angry!

its a massive improvement. This is not just for 4 bedroom houses but 5 bedroom 6 bedroom 10bedroom this is for big big families on a low income

people used to get given £10000s for housing benefit. its a massive improvement.

Oh no I agree it's an improvement!!! I think it's silly that people can claim to live in these mansions! xx

the amount of bedrooms isnt exactly the same as the house though is it. I could need 5 bedrooms and find a mansion in the contry with a swimming pool for that

plus families who have their cousins, children, grandparents, aunties etc they used to be entitled to like 10 bedroom houses etc

why shouldnt millionaire be enitiled to CB? there kids are our countrys future as much as ours

Anything people aren't happy with? Aside from scrapping the baby element of TC im happy :)

So millionnaires can still claim child benefit? That doesnt make sense!

i know!! this is teh only thing i think that could have been changed. this should soooo be means tested but they were talking about how its part of our countries like heritige etc that we do this for mothers! silly

if free swimming for under 12s was actually in effect then surely it would apply to school bookings too? my mum pays £6 a week for P to go, so dont see how itll change anything anyway :haha:

Because they dont need it. The whole point of this was to lower spending, but they still give £30 a week to people that dont notice it. Nothing to do with the countries future.

i have to say i'm pleased with literally everything they have said! i knew i would be!!! that's why i voted for them lol.

i don't think their predictions are very accurate halfing the counties billions of pounds debt by 2013/14 etc but i do think things will seriously improve!!!!!

Think I'll just buy a big paddling pool..that'll do for little one :winkwink:

Lol!! I can't wait for paddling pool days! xxx

If you're in the Home Counties, you can come and share, that'll save some money :winkwink:

I used to LOVE my paddling pool, my mum used to put the goldfish in there when she was cleaning out the tank..like my very own SeaWorld, lol! Anyway, I'm going off topic, hehe. xxx

And child benefit is for the child, so shouldnt be based on what their parents earn, wether its a £100 a month or £1m a month.

they might not rely on it for the same things but doesnt mean they shouldnt get it, their children are just as entitled.

their parents pay for it and more in tax.

But they dont need it. Isnt that what the whole budget is about? cutting expenditure to those who dont need it and increasing it to those that do?

Im not terribly into politics but on the whole I think they've drawn up quite a plausible budget given the mess they were left to clean up.. :flower:
