Kind of depressing but since DH was made redundant and nobody is hiring either of us, we're in debt with no income. :( I'm glad Carmen will be too young too realize her three gifts from us only total about $22.
I'm determined to make this a beautiful first Christmas for her regardless of our situation, and next year will, God willing, be much much better.

Anyone else on a very tight budget this holiday season?

Yep I am, I've manages to get Ella a few presents and my niece (it's her birthday christmas day) and that has really made me struggle. I've told everyone NOT to get me presents because I can't buy them anything.

:hugs: We've had to opt out of the gift exchange this year too. Carmen's birthday is about a month after Christmas and I'm really hoping we have some money by then. :(

She is going to be excited what ever you get her. It will all be massively exciting to her and it doesn't matter how much you spend. I hope you have a lovely family Christmas and things get easier in the New Year :flower:

things are tight for us this year too, im trying to save as much money as i can for when beany arrives, luckily i started buying christmas present in october so everyone will have atleast one present, even if it is just a small one. I could have killed OH last week when he said hes buying me a new digital camera, even a cheap one isnt in our budget!

This is what upsets me about christmas, it shouldnt be about the money, it should be about spending cherished time with your family! Im going to try my best with treats/decs this year but poundland and the 99p store will be my main suppliers for stuff like that.

x

dont worry hun :hugs: OH has been doing lots of overtime since August so we havnt had a problem with money and iv managed to buy LO and OH alot of stuff, now OH overtime has finished and were pretty skint due to all the overspending and i still have to get everyone elses gifts :dohh: LO wont care whatever you get them jesse was more interested in the paper on his birthday and his favourite toy at the moment is OHs old popped rugby ball lol, its about love and precious first christmas memories more than presents xxx

Thanks ladies. :) I know Carmen won't care, but honestly it's kind of depressing and embarrassing watching everyone else do their shopping and talk about what they've bought and here we are without a penny in the bank (literally). DH's siblings all have plenty of money and they're buying expensive gifts left and right while we're just trying to pretend we're not here so we don't have to talk about Christmas. :(

Me too, I had Arianna Oct 7th, so I was off work from the end of Sept til just this week...my first check will come on the 10th of Dec and I have to get presents for a few people with that.

*waves hand* OH has just lost his job, and we officially have no money. I don't thik we'll be able to afford any presents this christmas :( It's sad, but I just keep thinking at least we're together, and that's what christmas is really about, isn't it.

Money is tight for us again this year so little guy won't be getting a lot of presents (maybe a book or two from us). Hubby and I won't be exchanging gifts with eachother at all.

With gift exchange with family and such, what we did for people last year is that we gave them a card and inside wrote a little note offering them to come to our place for a nice supper. We enjoyed cooking for them and they had a nice meal plus time to spend with our son.

Other things that you can do for gifts is just make home-made ones. I remember reading one blog where a gentleman and his family were making some home made gift baskets (they made an ornament or two and had the kids involved), etc. Looked really sweet and relatively inexpensive.

I dont have much money either. I have a job but I still dont have a lot after bills. I started early in August! I am sorry to hear your in debt. :hugs:
Carmen will be happy with whatever she gets at whatever age huni. You give her all she needs all the year round.
Big :hugs:
Chloe and Jaycee dont have a lot of presents either.

:hugs: i know the feeling :( luckily i started shopping in august ! so i got every toy at least half price in dribs and drabs! so LO has got his stuff but we are not exchanging gifts ( my oh and i) and we are not buying for anyone :( yet i stupidly agreed to cook xmas for his whole family months ago! so that will have to do them haha!
