Anyone else getting strong braxton hicks every 2-5 minutes?

I noticed last night I had at least 6-8 in an hour, and was wondering the same thing, so seems like the guidelines are a bit overcautious. Sorry for tmi but I then realised I hadn't done a number 2 all day and after I went it eased a lot and today I've had none so far - but they are defo more prominent in the evenings and when I walk too much. So all sounds normal at least, not long for us now tho hey :-) x

My midwife cancelled!!! It was meant to be a home visit and she apparently has a clinic to attend. So great...my '36' week appointment will probably be done when I am 37 or 38 weeks!

*mutters*

:dohh: how useful!! Aren't they meant to be fortnightly now??

yup, they are. I will try and arrange to see her soon, but she only does part time work and grabbing a slot is a mission!!

I have been researching.....I think I have an irritable uterus.

i've been having since saturday, strong and regular. Ended up going in hospital last night as baby is currently breech and have to go in with any sign of labour. Cervix is not dilating yet so false labour, but pains still continuing regularly, and do not stop when i change position etc! very strange.

sorry your mw has canceled on you, how annoying. Maybe ring the hospital again, i was told last night that any change to call back and they would rather have you in to check as things can change so quickly!

Will be talking to my mw today too as they still haven't stopped, however i have irritable uterus as i have had painful irregular ones since week 28, so maybe that?

Oh the joys of pregnancy, lol.

Jessica your mw is pants! She must have known that she had a clinic to go to

Princess-I agree, she is pants!
Cutelou- I think I may have it, been having the braxton hicks since week 20 and they have always been quite strong, just not as frequent as they are now.

I have rung the fetal assessment unit and they simply said that unless my waters break or the contractions become increasingly more painful then not to worry. There isn't much they can do now anyway as I am too far along so they wouldnt bother halting my contractions.

Shame your mw is so bad, thought it was just mine!! well good luck, like you say on the plus side hopefully that means your labour will be smooth as you will be so practiced with the contractions!!

i know how you ladies all feel
i have had braxton hicks since 18 weeks and since almost 28 weeks i get them regular and they hurt and my drs heart rate drops and mine increases and i am also bleeding alot and dr is not concerned which makes me angry but im hoping next week when i talk to the fill in dr that he will be concerned as some drs have but they cant do anything because they are not seeing to the care of the pregnancy

Is there a day assessment unit you can visit? It may just be very strong braxton hicks, but worth getting a second opinion (especially as you say your midwife isn't very good). If you go to the hospital, they may be able to check your cervix and things like that and see if anything has progressed since last week.

London- I have been! I went a couple of weeks ago for the fetal fibronectin test. It was negative. They don't do internals around here as there is the risk of causing more harm than good and the risk of introducing infection is high.
I also called the unit today and was told that because of my gestation its just not worth coming in until I am actually in full blown labour as they wont even try to stop it if I was!
