Anyone else got a 5 month old and not started weaning?

ME! LO is perfectly happy with milk so I'm waiting until 6 months

I didn't start weaning until 5.5 months.

Oh thank god, are people pressuring you to start? I feel like I'm under attack!!

Phoebe was 24 weeks so almost 6 months. The beauty of waiting is that at 6 months they can have pretty much anything so not too many rules to worry about.

I got lots of pressure, especially as I have older kids and they were weaned at 4 months and 'it didn't do them any harm'

I'm waiting til 6 months too! But have been getting hassle as well. I don't care if they think he'll sleep better, he's gaining loads and isn't interested in what we eat yet. I just want whats best for him. When he needs solids we'll start :)

I haven't started yet either :) LO is starting to show an interest in what we are eating so I've started buying bits and bobs but he is still taking lots of milk and sleeping well so will probably still be waiting until 6 months. Its ridiculous the pressure and comments you get of some people isn't it!

I waited until Louie was almost 6 months. He's still only on 1 meal a day and we are making it up to two meals from tomorrow xx

I started today! LO is 6 months in just under a week. We are hoping to go down the BLW route so LO had toast for breakfast and some tomato flavoured rice cakes as a snack this afternoon. Not much of it got eaten though! Not that it matters as the first month she'll probably just be learning!

I felt LO was definatley not ready any earlier than this and like someone else said, if you wait till 6 months, you can skip the puree part, go straight to whole food or mashed/chopped lumpy food and they can have pretty much anything (barring too salty, whole nuts, honey and runny eggs!)

Good luck when you get to 6months!! xx

They're all doing my head in!!! I want to do blw and start at 6 months yet my dh keeps asking me if he can give lo food! How many times do I have to explain dumbass???

The other day he asks if he can give lo coco pops. COCO POPS??? SERIOUSLY???? How thick are you???

I felt like that when my LO was 5 months!

All my friends weaned early and I felt so much pressure to wean early but I hung in there and weaned at 5 months 3wks because she started getting hungry and was very interested in food.

TBH i think a lot of people confuse the 4 month growth spurt with the need to wean so wean early when their LO's just arent ready

Edited to add, we waited and my LO is so much better at eating than all the babies who were weaned early. My LO eats real food whilst the ones weaned early are still on lumpy puree. wait until you think lo is ready and be led by them. my lo hated lunch so i just didnt bother with it and tried it again a few weeks later, noticed an improvement so tried again the day after just a little bit at a time now she eats three meals a day, eats pretty much anything, and is self feeding from loaded forks (she wont do a spoon for normal food)

we waited until 6 months & have had great fun with blw :)
every time we have a meal, i'm so pleased we waited & just did blw from the start!
xx

James will be 6 months in 1 week and i have not started.
i'm too scared to start and i honestly don't think James is interested at all.

we may start at 6 months or we may start at 7 or 8 months.
i don't know...i dont like all the pressure everyone puts on me to wean because honestly it makes me nervous.
james likes his booby milk! :baby:

I waited until 6 months to start blw xx

We started at 3 days short of 6 months, for a couple of weeks we did 2 meals a day but LO was getting constipated so I went back to 1 meal a day and am taking it more slowly now xx

I gave her apple puree for 2 days when she was 4.5 months but she was totally uninterested and it turned her poor little tummy. She is now 5 months or 23 weeks and I still dontthink she is ready so think will leave it a bit longer

We are going to start BLW when Harrison turns 6 months. I am getting so much pressure from everyone atm. Harrison will watch ppl eat and reach for things and everyone keeps saying "just give him some, it won't hurt" I'm like "Erm, he's my son and will eat solids when he is 6 months" then I get "Awww, is mummy horrible not giving you any <whatever I'm eating>"

I hate the pressure, its not fair. Xx
