Hi Ladies,

So, we've been trying to conceive (forgive me, I'm pretty ignorant on lots of the acronyms used) since December and figured we'd still be trying for a while. Well, on Thursday I decided to take a HPT since I was 4 days late and I'm very much a 28 day kinda girl. Well, 2 positive tests later and I was trembling. I took 2 more and those were rather faded so naturally I assume it's a fluke and that i'm not preggers. I made an appt to get a blood test that same day, got a call back on Friday morning and turns out the blood test was 'borderline'. I don't know the exact level and I'm kicking myself now for not asking. The Dr. said it was either because it was too early in the pregnancy or I was miscarrying. I'm assuming the worst at this point because I don't want to get my hopes up. I have another follow up appointment on the following Monday (28th) to see where my levels are. So far, I've had no bleeding but the tone in the Dr's voice made me assume...

My question (after that long ramble) is, have many of you had borderline results? Any happy endings to speak of?

WannaB responded in my other thread that she also experienced this before and had a happy ending which is so encouraging to hear.

The symptoms I am experiencing (acid reflux after every meal and tender breasts) could *also* point to my going through a mc (as my Dr. warned me on Friday morning) but I've yet to see any bleeding and well, I'm wondering if that .5% hope I had stashed away could actually be on to something...

worried,
Claudia~

Not got any experience but wanted to say dont give up hope.

I would call back the doc and see what the results atually was as they may not be as bad as you think :hugs:

Have you got to go back for a retest ??

My doctor told me that less than 5 is not pregnant. (I am in the US) but I know that I got a :bfp: on a hpt with my bloods being 15. Good luck and I hope you get some answers soon! :hugs:

You should call back and ask what the beta HCG level was a 5 is positive and a 2 is considered a negative ....would be good if you called back and asked what it was

So I called the Dr's office this morning to ask them what my HCG levels were and they said they didn't have an HCG level because the blood test they took was for a qualitative result as opposed to a quantitative. They said they couldn't take a quantitative test because it was too early. That doesn't sound right though. The first day of my last cycle was August 17th. I'm quite the regular 28 day cycle girl and I believe we concieved on the 2nd or 3rd. At this point I'm 8 days late and the only thing they would do for my peace of mind was give me another qualitative blood test today (I find out tomorrow).

How does everyone else get a Dr. to give them quantitative blood tests? Argh.

The first Dr. told me on Friday that it was very likely that I was miscarrying and a small chance that it was early in the pregnancy but all of the research I do says otherwise and the other Dr. I talked to today asked why I thought I may be miscarrying and I told him what the previous Dr. said. He asked if I was spotting or bleeding (No, believe me every time I go to the bathroom I wipe like mad just looking for traces of blood) and if I was feeling differences in my body (yes, very tender breasts, heartburn after every meal, significant gas :haha: and quite tired more often) and at the end said it's likely that it's just early in my pregnancy. ((shrugs)) I just would like an answer, either way, for peace of mind.

Here's hoping, yet trying to keep my feet grounded and stay objective.

I gotta say, this forum is providing so much of the support and knowledge that I've been needing. I wish I'd found this group earlier on. Better late than never!

Good Luck Clussy, i hope the next test gets stronger for you!

Thank you all for your advice and support. I went back for another blood test yesterday and I got the results today. Positive! I have my 6 week visit with my OBGYN on Monday.
