Anyone else have to go for glucose tolerance test?

I had the test with my previous pregnancy and likely will with this one too. Gestational diabetes occurs in all different types of women. I am very slender, very health conscious and was still borderline diabetic during my pregnancy. As a PP mentioned you can have absolutely no risk factors and still get it.

As far as diet is concerned when you have GD, they tell you to stay away from sugar and reduce carbs in your diet. The hope is that you won't deliver a very large baby :)

I have to go for one at 24 weeks, they said I may get it as my father, and dh mother has diabetes, so there's more chance, even though I had nothing with Ds

I am booked to have one at 28 weeks because of my age (40) and I am still not sure how this is relevant?! Any Mums of "advanced maternal age" having one? My BMI is OK..

Fortunately my midwife booked me for an 8.40am appointment so the fasting won't be too bad.... hopefully!

You can develop GD regardless of your weight.

It appears to me they are being cautious because of your booking in weight, regardless of your loss.

I need have gtt because of high bmi and that my grandma has it, but im the same due to HG ive lost weight but still have to make sure my body is doing what it should.

this is also my 3rd and our state changed the guidelines for it. if your bmi is so high you have to have it done at your first ob appt then repeated between 25-28wks. My bmi was over just by a tiny so I had to do it. I have the next one in about 4weeks.
