So I woke up this morning with a very painful sore throat. My glands are swollen and I have some of the symptoms, but not all of the symptoms of strep, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that its not. However, if it is, the only way to get better is to take antibiotics. My question is: has anybody ever had strep this far along in pregnancy and if so, were they able to treat it with the normal antibiotics or did they have to do something else?

My appointment is at 11:15 am and I told work I was coming in late because this is the third time I've been sick since new year's and I'm getting so sick of it. I took two and a half days off for a cold at the beginning of the year, then had another cold a few weeks later, which I just got over last week, and now this. I'm going to talk to the doctor because I wonder if I'm just doing too much between work and moving tomorrow and family stress and I'm not letting my body rest like it should.

Good news is the baby is fine. His movements aren't as strong as they were a few weeks ago, but he's moving just as much so that's good. I think he's just running out of room in there.

Never had strep, but had bronchitis. Yes they can and will give you antibiotics! Completely safe

yes several times the year before last, I was treated with antibiotics and finally just had to have my tonsils removed last February!

Didn't want to read and run but no. Actually, I've never had strep throat in my life. I heard it really is painful though. :( The past few days though, I have had a little bit of a sore throat (but it's from my post nasal drip, I have some sinus issues going on right now).
My OH has been home since Monday with some kind of messed up virus. He's had a fever of about 102 every day, this nasty cough and last night he was throwing up. He went to the doctor yesterday, was not the flu! They precribed some cough medicine, some kind of inhaler and then some antibiotics and he pretty much told him, it might not even help!
I told my doctor about it yesterday ( my OB, I had an appt as well) and he was really concerned about me getting sick with this. He practically told me to avoid him, and if I show any signs I need to call him, and if it's on the weekend and i get a fever, I need to go to the hospital. But that was it. He didn't make me feel good about it! His facial expression kinda scared me actually!
I hope I don't get it!

I hope you feel better!

Yeah no big deal! Take zpack ( Zithromax) totally safe!

Probably not strep but they said it could be another kind of bacterial infection so they're sending it out to the lab to be tested. They said if I don't feel better by Saturday to call and they'll prescribe the z-pack for me, which is completely safe for pregnancy. And they also told me that the reason why I keep getting sick is probably because I'm not resting enough when I get sick. Basically they told me to slow down a bit. :)

Thank you so much for all your advice, ladies, I really appreciate it!!

I hope you get better fast!! X

I loveeeee the zpack! It will literally slap it out of you! I say don't be afraid to take if u need xx

So I DO have strep, but instead of the normal Group A strep, I have contracted Group B strep, which is the one you absolutely do not want to have during pregnancy. I'm on antibiotics now and I think I'll have to have IV antibiotics when I go into labor. I'm glad they caught it before it developed into a blood infection or meningitis, but now I'm worried about passing it onto the little guy once he's born :(
