Yep! I liked the idea of natural birth but was open to an epidural etc. but what I wanted was that wonderful, magical moment everyone talks about.
I did really well without pain relief, stayed at home until 7/8cm using just water therapy and massage etc. Then arrived at hospital, Oliver picked up as being in distress straight away, picotin, theatre, spinal block, cut and forceps with me pushing for about 30 seconds I felt numb. It was awful and scary.
I hadn't envisioned the moment I'd hear my baby's first cry would be when I was spread-eagled up in stirrups in a clinical operating theatre with about seven members of staff stood round me, wondering when on earth he'd come out because I hadn't felt a thing.
So anyway, I really get jealous when I talk to friends about birth and they've had a nice, normal, private one in a delivery suite with just a midwife and their partner. And it's exactly how I envisioned Oliver's would be xx
