Did it affect breastfeeding at all? I heard its not supposed to but then again I heard it makes you have a really long menstruation when you first get it put in. Any experience? No horror stories please!

I had mine put in at 13 weeks pp. I bled for a day. Unfortunately it was incorrectly placed and had to be taken out and redone. The second time around I had minor cramping for two days and light bleeding for one. We are EBF for 5.5 months and going strong. Unfortunately my period came back at 4.5 months pp. No idea if this is connected to the IUD.

Thank you! Its not supposed to affect anything but then again its supposed to prevent pregnancy and tons of women get pregnant regardless so I figured id ask about personal experience.

I completely understand. No pregnancy yet... despite DH's most fervent hopes (crazy man wants at least 6 kids... I told him he'd be lucky to get a second one). It has worked great so far. I don't do well with hormones which is why we went with the copper one rather than the Mirena.

I had it for three months. Initaily its was great. I was regular all was good. About 3 months in, I started spotting, and spotting more and more. I ended up spotting for 3 weeks. Went to the doctor, he shrug it off, said the IUD was moving in to place, blah. So I got a second opinion, 2 days later a blood panel and the iUD removed I found out I had copper toxity. I wont recommend it to no one. None of the IUD's. To many issues, law suits, and scary stuff.

I have it and I haven't had a period since having Violet and the IUD seems to have zero side effects on me. (This may change when my period finally does come back)

I got the mirena and have been fine with that. A bit of spotting for a few days but I hadn't had a period before having it in and still havent so not sure if it would be different if your AF has returned.

I've had the copper one for about a month- so far so good. No side effects. I had the Mirena years ago and had some negative side effects due to the hormones.

Thanks all I'm waiting to get scheduled for the copper iud. I know there's risks but the only other options are the shot the pill and condoms. My body reacts negatively to the shot I can never remember to take a pill at the same time every day and condoms suck. Not ready for number 2 so iud it is!

I had my first for 9 years. took it out. Got pregnant again. And had it put in again. It may make you bleed a littke heavy but since I am EFB...I have been getting long cycles **pass 32 days**. But when I do get my period , it seem to last 3 to 4 days. I am wondering if it has to do with my age too (I am 36 years old) anyway, my first one was fine and it gave me little problems (until at the end but they think 8t was time to take it out )

I had the copper coil fitted. 1 st July no problems. Had light spotting when put in, no period though havnt since baby. I had it about 7 years ago also and didn't get on with it as it made periods really heavy and painfull! But as I said havnt had any yet this time!
