Hello....its Christmas eve how exciting!!!


Well ive seen my specialist & he has agreed to do a lap & dye....waiting 4 date but he said it should be end jan/feb time. Have some questions for those who have had a lap & dye if you could please help? Also anyone that is due to have 1 please feel free to join too!

#What exactly happens?
#How long is the op?
#Will my dh be allowed to wait with me while im being put to sleep...im such a wimp lol!!
#How long is the recovery time?
#Does it matter if you are on your period?
#When did u feel ready to start ttc again?
#If they found anything was it removed/repaired there & then? or did you have to wait & have another op? was there a long wait?


if you can think of anything else i have havent thought of please let me know!

I don't have all the answers but having posted a similar thread last week and googled obsessively since heres what I found!

Most people take around a week off as tummy pain and shoulder pain are quite common.

They knock you out, blow gas into your tummy and push dye through to enable them to see the condition of your tubes or what not and if there is endo problems the extent of it. If there is something they can fix they will try to do this while they are there so you can't really say how long it will take I think it is short though as it is done as day case. It would have to be extreme for them to need a further op but it does happen very very occasionally

I honestly don't know bout af issue as I booked mine when I knew I wouldn't be on but if you have unpredictable cycles then check with your surgeon as I'm pretty sure you should have a pre-op appointment.

I don't think you have to wait to ttc as I think quite a few people conceive very quickly after! Again not gospel but I have heard nothing to say other wise, have read that you can bleed for up to 2 wks afterwards so that would probably be around the right amount of time to heal!

What exactly happens? i had a lap (HSG in Jan) camera goes in vi the belly button and they look around...pretty much the same as the above comments

#How long is the op? about 1 and a half as my tube was stuck to the bowel so it had to be seperated..

#Will my dh be allowed to wait with me while im being put to sleep...im such a wimp lol!! yes definatley. He waited in my room for me

#How long is the recovery time? i took 2 weeks off, the 1st few days was realy hard to move and pain in the shoulders due to some air still inside. but i had stitches so i dont know if thats why it took longer..

#Does it matter if you are on your period? yes i think so, he asked me where i was in my cycle before it was booked...


#When did u feel ready to start ttc again? we didnt try that month as we waited abut a month.....and it didnt hurt..it was amazing!


#If they found anything was it removed/repaired there & then? or did you have to wait & have another op? was there a long wait? i didnt know i had endo, this is where he found it and treated it. my hsg is in jan 6th to see f my tubes are blocked

we have started ivf now..

I had lap and dye in november, it's not a long op, depending on what they have to do i suppose. DH was not allowed to come with me when i was put to sleep but could wait on ward. I felt well enough to go back work after 4 days, didn't really have any wind pains like some people do and no bleeding afterwards, but did come on early. I started TTC after second period as i didn't feel up to it before then but i suppose each person is different and i dont think there is any reason why u cant ttc as soon as u feel ready. I didn't get results straight away, have appointment with consultant this wednesday so had to wait 2 months after op. But the lap and dye must have doen something because me and DH after second period and i had BFP so i dont really need to see consultant but will anyway just to see what they have to say.

Hello. I had one november 08. I had a scan before that showed both tubes blocked so they wanted a look. The op its self was less than an hour. I had to go in night before so partner wasnt allowed with me before i went in as it wasnt visiting times. I didnt end up going down till 5pm so i had to staty in night after as well. They put a camera inside to look around and insert dye in your tubes. I got the results the next morning. The biggest scar i have is in my belly button so very discret. I had 2 weeks off. The 1st week was quite painful to move. I felt like all my tummy had been streached. The stitchs didnt hurt at all. I didnt bleed after but you do lose some blue dye. But that stopped by time i went home. I got some sholder pain from the air. If they find something small im sure they would sort it out for you while your under.

My results where that i had pcos and 2 blocked tubes. I was told i could never conceive for this reason. So was out on list for ivf. We had never tried to conceive so we just didnt use anything. 6 month later i conceived. 14 months later im 30 weeks pregnant. Im not sure how or why but figured that the lap must of helped.

Its totally worth it. Good luck

congratulations!! do you mind me asking if they found anything and removed it? or did everything look fine?? i have some symptoms of endo so im petrified they will find something!! xx
