This LOs kicks are beginning to get uncomfy... When did your frank breeches turn????

Mine still hasn't!!! The midwife has given me till next week so 36 weeks before they start talking about c - sections. I think 36 weeks is when its less likely they will turn on there own - so you have a few weeks yet x

Don't ya just hate not being in control... My grandads a GP and he said its unlikely she'll turn from now either... He said frank breech is hard once they get stuck... So scary coz csec was last thing I wanted to hear v.v

Would it be a elective one then?

33 and a half weeks with a good few painful braxton hicks:wacko:

See I feel exactly the same - I'm nearly 35 weeks and I'm wondering what the likelyhood of him actually turning is - no body is being straight with me and it is sooooo annoying!! My boy has been breech since 28 weeks now, I'm not sure if he's frank breech, all I know is he has his legs up, he's head under my ribs and his bum on my bladder!!! Is that frank?

They do offer a ECV (manually turning him) but I'm not keen on that idea so I think I will just go for an elective c -section. I'm a bit of a planner so feel happier when I know what's happening! X

The evc only has a small chance of working and some babies turn back breech after lol so seems pointless. This LO was transverse at 28 and slowly turned up as the weeks went.

I agree elective is probably the best way... I guess in some ways it's nice we get to meet them early and safely

Yer that's very true!

Also I have an anteria placenta and apparently the ECV doesn't work as well.

So does your grandad know the true likely hood of when it gets difficult for the babies to turn? I'm so fed up of everyone saying 'its possible' I want to know how possible lol!

Well he told me not to hold my breath and I'm at 33w... So will see! I think the closer u r to term the less chance. He said no yoga position is proven either so I've wasted a day lol

Lol well at least u tried! I havnt even bothered to be honest, just got a feeling he's comfortable! Another thing the midwife said was that there could be a reason why he's in the position he's in I.e the cord or something, so maybe he's just best left be. If he turns he turns, as long as he gets here safe and sound I don't care what they do!

Aye So true... All I want is her here.

Just curious... Wondered if it was a breech thing... But do you get more than the average share of hiccups from your LO?

Mine turned by 34 weeks. I did a bunch of the exercises from the Spinning Babies site - not sure if that helped or not, but it's worth a try!

Haha... I tried to do the lean off the couch one on spinning babies today... Omg did my arms ache after a minute!!! I'm so unfit now lol

34 is good... She's got a week then! Lol

Just wondering where you're feeling your LO's kicks? My midwife thinks my baby is breech too and I'm often trying to work out his position from kicks but I just can't. He seems to be kicking everywhere like an octopus!

My consultant said my LO was breech at 31 weeks I was sooo gutted. Then one night I was sound asleep and suddenly woke up with the sensation of a small person rotating in my stomach! I wasn't sure if it was a dream, or just a big movement or if baby really did turn lol. But I went for my 34w midwife appt on Monday and she quote thoroughly checked position and said baby was head down

My consultant said that out of 100 babies that are breech only 1 doesn't turn before 37 weeks. I also spoke to three people who's babies turned at 37-38 weeks and someone who had their baby successfully turned via evc.

Csection is sooooo my worst nightmare, I'd rather be up on my feet within hours rather than 6 weeks recovering, especially as I have a two year old to run after!! My SIL just had a csection and she was in so much pain for like a month and her incision got infected and it's been awful to watch :( when I had my son I was up on my feet within no time and walking around the shops with my newborn within days! I would at least wait until my due date to book an elective section as you never know what you might put yourself through with the major surgery when baby might have turned on their own anyways!

I seemed to get movements everywhere when LO was breech but a lot top right and a bony head below my ribs. I found my bump changed shape a lot when he turned though, didn't hang so low. I still get movements top right but they are more down my side now opposed to in my ribcage!

My daughter was breech all the way until 37 weeks when she flipped. She was head down for about a week, but unfortunately turned back around before delivery. I had a c section.

Well I'm feeling her kicks next to her big head lol... The majority of her is up in my rib area as she has her feet beside her head... Awwwwkward lol

See this is it... My grandads a doctor and he said... "even if she did turn there is no guarantee she would stay that way and you're better having an elective csection than throwing yourself into a labour that could end in an emergency one and put stress on you and the baby"

So now I'm wondering if because she has a LONG history of being both frank breech and transverse that maybe if I speak to my MW and tell her I'm scared of having to go through an emergency c section and would rather it was planned maybe she would allow this. I really don't want to put the bub through any trauma on the big day.

My baby is currently breech (don't know if its Frank breech or not, but I think most breech babies are not frank breech).
Anyway, my consultant told me that an ECV has a 50% chance of working, and only 5% of sucessful ECVs does the baby turn back around again. I know it wont be comfortable, but compared with the risks of c-section, I would much rather give it a go. The monitor the baby throughout and if it doesn't work, I have not lost anything.

Chances of success vary from person to person, things like size and amount of amniotic fluid all play a part.

If my understanding is correct, even if they do an elective c-section, they are still delivering a breech baby, so it still comes out feet/bum first. It is not as easy as a 'normal' c-section.

As much as its great that your grandad is a GP, I would think you are best raising your concerns with you obstertics consultant or midwife, as they really are the experts in this area.

This seems to be quite informative https://www.patient.co.uk/doctor/Breech-Presentations.htm

and as it is referencing the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) I would assume it is fairly trustworthy.
