Anyone have their fallopian tubes unblocked? PLEASE READ

Hi ladies,

I have tried posting this in TTC but got no replies, so hoping I have better luck here.

To cut a very long story short, I suffer from endometriosis and only have my left tube( right removed due to ectopic)

Me and my partner are going through the process of being referred to a infertility clinic (blood tests, swabs, sa ect..)

I pretty much know that my tube has adhesions and hope that I will have surgery to try and open it up.

Has anyone else been through this and can tell me anything? I would really like to hear about any success stories. I need a little bit of hope

Also anyone that can tell me what is going to happen once referred to fertility clinic, How long it will take and what tests are done?

Any replies would be amazing and thank you in advance

Hi hunni, I have had fertility issues for over 10 years. I do have one son almost 13. I've had all test known, I was told I had pcos in 2006, a scan shown my left ovary have doubled in size an was covered in cysts. Long story short, my relationship was going through a bad patch and I gave up pursuing things with a fertility specialist.

New chapter in my life now and I've met the man of my dreams. Knowing I'd have problems conceiving I contacted my doctor to run all scans and test agn. To my shock, this year I had scan, and bloods done and they all came back normal.
I requested I was checked for endo, so I was put forward for a laparoscopy. I had the lap in june this year. The results I didn't expect. I was told everything was perfectly fine, except both my tubes were blocked at the distilled end where my ovaries are. I was also told I have no healthy fimbria.

This news came as an even bigger shock to me, but finally gave me answers! I asked the doctor what were my options, she told me none... The only option I had now was Ivf... That I couldn't have Ivf on the nhs so would have to pay £6000 + I was distraught as you could imagine.

I demanded a second opinion, I'm 29 years old, healthy and don't smoke, not over weight either. This couldn't be happening to me.

I got an appointment with the best fertility specialist here in Manchester.
And in July I got an appointment to see him.

He was fantastic, he told me we had 2 options, I can have Ivf at £6000+ a go or £1000 if I would like to egg share. Or I can have a fairly big operation and he will try and repair them for me by opening the tubes and stitching them open.

I opted for the op first. My op was due to happen in October 2013 meaning I would come out of work for 8 weeks as it's a big op. To my luck I received a call 3 weeks ago asking would I like to have the op on the 12 sep, which I did.

I was admitted into hospital on Thursday the 12. Had the op that afternoon. He cut me below my bikini line as if I were having a c section and repaired my tubes. I got out of hospital on Saturday, feeling rather sore, unable to walk etc, I'm finding it hard to do most things but I'm hoping this will work for us.

The fertility specialist is a great step forward. Depending on your circumstances and the tests you have had in the past. They will look at that. Normally bloods, scans etc like you said. He may go in via a lap to check your tube, a normal scan cannot tell you anything. My op was a sapling something or other. Opt for that b4 Ivf Hun..

You can always do egg sharing if you feel like it in the future like us. We're going to see if this works for us first. Feel free to pm me anytime. It'll be nice to talk to so,done going through the same thing xx

Hi Hun. I had surgery to check for endo last year. Even my hsg showed blocked tubes they were able to be opened at surgery. I had a second surgery 9 months later ( cervix related) and they found adhesions. My left tube was open at a 2nd hsg but right blocked.
I hope that you can sort things out soon.

I was diagnosed with endo in 2010, after having my son in 2011 ive had no problems till recently... Been ttc for 18 month, suffered 1 mc.
Ive had 2 blood tests and a scan thro my GP who is now referring me, and my progesterone levels are low.
Terrified of what will happen when im referred so will be stalking

Lea1984 thank you so much for your reply, I can't wait to find out the outcome of your op. I have considered egg sharing, I know someone who is having her first miracle from donated eggs and sperm and can appreciate how much this has helped her, but i can't get passed the fact that someone would have a child that is genetically mine. I don't know if I am being narrow minded but I think this would be a last resort for me.

I have also considered going abroad as my partner has family in Poland but this also has its draw backs, but IVF in the UK is just so expensive. God, 8 weeks off work! I was under the impression that it was keyhole surgery. All my results have come back normal and we are filling out the referal forms for fertility clinic tommorrow with Doc, I hope that things move along quickly. Did they tell you if your tubes would close up again or stay open? Please let me know how things go.

Hi Lawyer Chick, Im sorry to hear of what you are going through. Did they find that you suffer from Endo? I have heard of many success stories but also heard that with Endo tubes don't stay open for long. I think my biggest fear is not being able to have my tube opened up cause its so badly stuck together. Fingers crossed for both us.

Hi Tanya, I know, I'm petrified of what they might find and not getting help. So what does low progesterone levels mean for ttc? I'm lucky that my test results have come back normal, I think the problem purely lies with blocked tube. I'm going through referal forms tomorrow but he can't seem to tell me how long it will all take for them to get in touch. Hope its not too long! I want a wee bean in my tummy!! Have you been told how long it takes? Wishing you lots of luck

Hi hun, well funnily enough the day i got my referral i found out i was pregnant
I waited 4 weeks for my referral, and got offered an appointment 3 weeks from when i recieved the referral. I think it just all depends on how busy the clinics are in your area.

Hi guys... Just thought I'd share my story, I'm 31 and have had blocked tubes for 7 years, I have a 14yr old daughter, I was told my only hope was ivf which myself and my partner cannot afford right now,
I had a hospital app last week to discuss my small fibroids and the pain they are causing but was told that maybe my blocked tubes (which are blocked nearest to the ovaries) were actually causing pain and they are unblocking them I'm actually over the moon that I have a slight chance of getting pregnant, has anyone had this ??? I would love to hear success story's
