Not at all as my experience with nhs has been brilliant so far. I'm going to Queen Charlotte's.

Madrid98 - have you delivered at QC's and if yes, were you private or NHS patient? Did they treat you well, were you happy?

I'm high risk and was wondering if they would take me as they are quarter mile closer to me than St Mary's Paddington and I am too traumatised to go back to StM's after my last experience there...

Hi there Alisa!! I was NHS patient then and they were sooo good with me. It was my 2nd child but my 1st was born by c-section and I had to go through full labour all over again. I had a 20hr labour and they were very supportive along the way. I had a huge room for myself with all sorts of equipment to help me feel comfortable. They offered me the pool but I didn't want to get in the water.

I think is better than St Mary's. My friend had her 3 kids there and I don't think she was very happy with them.

Good luck with whatever you decide!!

I'm in Crouch End, North London. Anyone near me?

I'm going to the Birth Centre at The Whittington in Highgate all being well. I'm currently 'Low risk'. Good thing is, the labour ward is just on another floor in the same building as the birth centre so if there are any complications it's not far to go!

im in enfield

Yay! Hi Louloubelle! Where are you going for the birth? You're one month ahead of me, how are you feeling? My OH and I have been up to Enfield a few times lately to a salvage yard (we're doing up our flat and needed a bath!) it's really lovely there, lots of garden centres ;) By the way were you born in '76? (your name louloubelle76) If so, you're the same age as me :)

Am so excitable today! Just bought some maternity jeans, a maternity top and a gorgeous snuggly cardi! Oh and a cast iron bath on eBay for £16! Mad.

What's everyone bought so far?

West London.. only a little bit pregnant at the moment though, 4 weeks 3 days, 1st doctors appointment on tues!!

I'm just outside of Romford (London side), abut 20 mins to Liverpool street : )

I am a bit worried actually as my closest hospital is Queens in Romford... which has been in the papers every week for the past few months for the appling maternity ward (even though its a new hospital). midwives ignoring mums, not taking pains seriously.. one poor women even died recently. My OH says 'there is no way you are going htere' but do you have a choice or do you have to go where they refer you? I am really worried. Am even considering a private midwife so I have one,. qualified person with me they might listen to.

Hi I had my youngest at Quuens who was born at 35+3 and the care I recieved there was EXCEPTIONAL!!! Just remember you only hear about negatives in the press never the positives! I am down to have this baby there too and would honestly not go to any other hospital in the area, but it's personal preference honey

Really? When was that? I think this is a fairly recent thing..

Hello all girls and SE London girls! I'm near bromley/beckenham, and will be at Farnborough (I mean..Princess Royal University Hospital..or whatever they call it now...) or having a homebirth (strongly considering!) how far along is everyone...?

Hello! I'm in Beckenham, having my midwife care at the Beacon and hoping I can have Pip at the Oasis centre at the PRUH (it's easier to say!). My friend had excellent care there earlier this year. We are planning to move to TWells, Kent by Easter and my hubby thinks I'll be having our child at the new Pembury Hospital, but if I'm still low risk than no way! I would prefer a water birth and midwife only care and I would probably have to go to Maidstone for that down there. I'm 9 weeks tomorrow. Nice to see locals on here!

I work in Beckenham! Such a small world! Hope you're well so far!

I'm having mine at Kings too! Got my booking appointment on 16 November and scan 19 december!

Really? When was that? I think this is a fairly recent thing..

I had my son there in July 2010

The reports that you are reading about date back from when the hospital was first opened in about 2006. I have had a lot of friends that have had theire babies there and have only positive things to say about the hospital. The problem wasn't with the actual staff that work there on a permanant basis but the agency staff they had. They have since changed the agency that they use and things are a whole lot better.

I was told by my midwife that ffrom December to April they will only be taking HIGH RISK pregnancies and LOW RISK will be told to go to King Georges,Whipps or Homerton, but they have a new maternity unit opening on the old Barking Hopsital site hopefully in April.

If you have major concerns then you should get in touch with the maternity department and ask for a tour of the place and then you can ask them any questions or raise any concerns that you might have honey.

I had my eldest son at King Georges and my youngest at Queens and to be honest I would choose Queens over King Georges any day of the week. The care I got at KG was absolutly atrocious and swore never to have a baby in there again.

They are closing the maternity unit at KG but I'm not sure of the dates

Sorry for going on but hope this may help you in your decision

It is a small world! All us pregnant ladies get our first 12 wk scan at Kings down here in Bromley / South London Health Trust. I am planning on taking part in their pre-eclampsia research program (it was in a little pamphlet included when the scan appt came through), so I will be having my other scans there too. If we are high risk we also get the option to have our baby at Kings. Definitely feel like I have more options having my baby in Bromley.

Hello! I'm from Barnet, my hospital is Barnet Hospital or Chase Farm :-)

I'm in London too! Not sure which hospital to choose. We live in NW3 and the royal free is the closest but I'm thinking of going for St. Mary's as the new private wing will be open. Any one else consideringn private?

Quick note: Seriously, Royal Free is a HORRIBLE hospital. friend have birth there twice she wasn't treated very well at all!

I'm currently in Romford area, but an East London girl. :)
I'll be hoping to have my midwife etc in Whitechapel or UCH as close to my uni and work...

Congrats :)
