At my last appointment (2 weeks ago) my midwife told me most babies at that age are about 3.5lb. All my phone applications tell me much more. Now they are saying 6lb. I know we are all different but I am just curious. Did or does anyone know (e.g. from a scan or birth) how much their baby weighed at 36 weeks?

Thanks all. I'm just getting so excited I'm a week away from full term and hoping baby doesn't keep me waiting too much longer.

I too am 36 weeks today, are you due 16th April?

I had a scan 10 days ago at 34w4d to check position of my placenta, as it was low at 20 week scan (thankfully it's moved so I'm ok for natural birth :happydance:) Sonographer did some measurements of baby at that scan and estimated baby to weigh somewhere between 4lb 2oz and 4lb 14oz at that time. So I would guess our little one should be at least 5lb by now

If you look in your maternity notes, you will find a FH graph, where you MW should be plotting your growth. It has 3 solid lines on it then your x marks. Follow your x marks acroo to the right had side of the grap, and It will ive you a rough estimate of your babys weight. My baby is about 4lbs.

36 wks average baby weight is 6 lbs. not 3.5. Kinda odd she said that since you're full term in a week and I doubt average for full term is 4 lbs.

At my scan last week at 34+3 my little man was weighing in around 5lb 9oz xx

At my last scan at 33+6 weeks my bigger boy weighed 5 lb and 9.13 oz and my smaller one 5 lb and 4.30 oz. I was told that especially my bigger twin was at the average weight she would expect for a singleton :). I have another scan tomorrow and if you are interested I will post their new weight after :)

In my last pregnancy my DS was around 3lbs at 28 weeks (I was told they triple in weight from then until birth) at 32 weeks he was around 4lbs 10ozs and at 36 weeks he was around 6lbs 10ozs, he was born at 40+4 9lbs 10ozs

xx

At 37+2, I had a weight estimate ultrasound, and LO was weighing around 6lb 4oz, which both the ultrasound tech and my OB said was on the low end. :nope: However, my OB proceeded to make the comment that although he's small, he's fine for coming out and the smaller size would make it easier to deliver him.

I had a scan at 37+4 last week and was told my baby weighed 6lb7oz. When I was pregnant with my son, I had a scan at just over 35 weeks, and was told he weighed 7lb14oz. When he was born at 40 weeks he weighed 9lb7oz. So my scan was quite accurate. At 36 weeks, 3.5lbs does seem a bit low.

3.5lbs at 34 seems a bit on the small side. I had a scan at 32 weeks and my lo was 3lbs 12 oz's and she small on the percentile scale at only 20%. Though I have my 34w 5d scan this thursday so we shall see what she is then :)

I had a scan at 33+2 and my baby was estimated at 5.5lb. When she showed me her on the graph mentioned before she was half way between the lines so an average size?

I had a scan at 36 +1 day and they said he weighed around 6.5 lbs and said that is average for this stage :)

I don't see how that can be right, most babies gain 1/2 lb every week from that stage so you would have a 5 1/2 lb baby. At 30 weeks a baby is around 3 lbs, so that seems wrong. Both of my pregnancies I have been told this and I have had different doctors.

At my 36 week apt she weighed 6 lbs 4 oz which he said was in the 49th percentile so almost perfect!

Your all so lucky. At my 36 week growth scan, baby was 8lb10oz :( and they are leaving me. I am in agony now.

i won't be having another scan, and i don't have anything mapped out on my charts in my notes...only what was measured in my 20 week scan. and now i'm TERRIFIED of having a huge baby. guess i won't know til she's here.....
