I got my confirmation letter that I have been accepted to Queen Charlotte in London, which on the one hand is good as they are one of the top maternity hospitals in the UK. On the down side, they are know for intervening early and often, which I am not a huge fan of.

I had my first in 1988 in California. I had Kaiser insurance at the time so I had no options, even though I really wanted a water birth.

Now home birthing and water births are so prevalent, I'd love to do it at home if all goes well. I've been reading posts on the home birth board, but it feels like most people there are young. Just wondering if any of us 35+ers are considering it.

I will be 35 in May and my baby is due in August. I am planning a home water birth after a cascade of intervention contributed to me having 2 emcs previously.

i'm 43. this is my fourth baby and I am hoping for a homebirth.

Thanks for your replies! I don't feel so alone now. I'll be very curious to see how things go when I attend my first appointment.

My sister in law is a doula and had her last 2 at home after her first was an emcs. I know that ultimately it is up to me, and it's too early to know how things will progress, but I'd like to stay positive and hope for the best.

I just read about lotus births for the first time and this sounds very interesting to me! My partner is pretty squeamish though so he will have to be convinced!

I would have liked a home birth, but at an hour from the hospital I'm too far away should anything go wrong during the process.

It's disappointing, but I'm opting for a Domino 6-hour early transfer instead.

My plan is to have this one at home and I am 39 yrs old.. I asked plus did my research and found no reason why an " older" mother can't safely have her baby at home if she in low risk.

yesterday I phoned the midwives to book in and asked if my age automatically blacklisted me for a homebirth and she was incredibly positive and said with your history and your health there should be no problem at all having a home birth. it was such a lovely positive response at the start of myy journey and It's put me on a high!¬
