How much did your bills go up by using cloth?

I'm terrified of getting my next bill

You need more cloth then you'll only have to wash twice a week.. That shouldnt make tooo much difference I wouldnt have thought?! We're not on a meter so Im no use Im afraid!!

We're on a meter but in Canada so probably not much help Our city does estimated billing and then sends someone out to actually read the meters twice a year and I just got the adjusted bill for the past 6 months When I did the math, it worked out that our water consumption has gone up 9%- doesn't sound too bad, but when it's added as a lump sum for 6 mths, it was a bit of a shock

i'm on a water meter and the difference is marginal, though admittedly i only do 2 nappy washes a week so i'm not washing everyday or anything.

i don't wash my nappies til i know i've used 20+ nappies and i'll have a good washload, if you only have a few nappies at the mo maybe think about gradually increasing your stash ie 1-2 nappies a month until you have enough to go longer between washes.

I'm on a meter, but we moved at about the same time as we had Alice, so I've nothing to compare it to. We got a new washing machine though, and in the back it have rough measures of how much water each type of wash did and how much electricity they used. Using the costs per litre and KwH I worked out that the cheapest wash I could do would only be 14p. The highest cost was about 20p, so I don't think it will be too bad. It's an A rated washing machine which helps a bit I guess. I tend to do a wash every other day now. When she was tiny, it was every day. HTH!

Ours is metered and I really didn't notice any difference, we only did 2-3 more washes a week, not too much.

Not as much as they just went up by moving to a house that's not metered. We'll be petitioning the landlord to let us get a meter put in when he comes round for his three-month inspection next week!
