Anyone on team pink paranoid about sex?

yeah but the thing about boys is you cant mistake anything between the legs, girls dont have anything between the legs so your more likely to mistake a girl than boy id imagine

I always thought this but there was a thread on third tri earlier about a lady who had a private scan at 25 weeks and was told boy and then just had a growth scan at 35 weeks and has been told girl...eeek! I am assuming the little man was just hiding his winkie as I cant imagine boy parts just disappearing after 25 weeks? I would be in so much shock and confusion if I were her xx

well a girl dont have a winkie so maybe at the later one it was hiding the winky your right lol it dont dissapear lol.

Question.....whats the point in asking sex at 20week scan if your not gona believe it till youve payed hundreds of pounds to see if theyre right? lol

I have been feeling this way too, I bought a few impulsive things after our scan and have wondered since if I should have got neutral things :dohh:

well at end of day if they wernt sure they would have said they wernt sure so try not to worry. you having a girl x

I'm havingmy 4d scan as my dad booked it as a gift 2 months ago, before i knew the gender. Getting extra confirmation is a bonus, but defo not the reason i'm going for it.
With regard to girls being confused for boys, this is possible as female parts can be swollen both before and after birth. On a scan it can make it harder to differentiate between swollen girly bits/ a penis. We should remember though, it is quite rare for them to make these mistakes, particularly later on in pregnancy x

Yeah but look at it this way it is possible girl bits can look like a penis but theres no gona be one girl labia to be swollen and the other not lol. plus if it was a boy it would have what looked like testicles too.

that wasnt directed to you btw but some women do that x

I didnt see a winkie at my scan (oh says he did though) but i did see a big bulge between the legs, which i know girls dont have lol plus the man looked enough times hehe x

Yeah i agree with you...i dont think they say what sex unless they are sure. But my theory at least explains how mistakes can be made. At the end of the day, theres always room for human error, but usually they are right x

Both of my scans haven't been sure and Ive gone girly crazy!! Have kept all receipts though and waiting for my 4d scan in 2 weeks to confirm. Furniture (White with hearts) will not be going up until after the 4d just in case! x

I know 3 people who have been told girl only to have boys and everyone I know who has been told boy has had a boy so I feel they are more likely to be wrong about a girl.
One woman I know was told girl at her 20 week scan, then had a private scan at 26 weeks was told girl and had growth scans every 2 weeks for the last 10 weeks and every time was told girl. She has a healthy 7lb baby boy so I am a little paranoid but I know that is so rare. I have bought Aryana some pretty little girl things but I'm paranoid about my next scan on Tuesday incase the sonographer goes 'and there's her winky' lol
I think its normal to have that doubt as the scans are only 97% sure you can't know for certain untill you see her :)

YES! I have my doubts, only because it seems that boys are sometimes mistaken for girls. I think for me, it's mostly about control. I can control so little during pregnancy and I was hoping the sex of the baby would be the one thing I could plan for. I'm pretty anxious in general, so typical me :) Also, I feel like I'm now "bonding" with this baby as a girl and that I'll somehow have missed the mark if the baby is a boy. Like our relationship won't be as strong. I know that's crazy.

My ultrasound tech had no hesitation in telling me my baby was a girl. I'm going to get a 3D scan on Wednesday just to be sure. For me, it's not that I'll only believe the sex when I pay money... It's that hearing the same result twice will drive it home. I don't believe my insurance will cover another scan (nor will my doctor order it) until 36 weeks or so.

The one thing I find reassuring is that most instances of women being told the incorrect sex always seem to be a "friend" or "friend of a friend". I don't actually know anyone who was told the wrong sex. Therefore, it seems to me that it happens but it's an unlikely event. Most research I've read says ultrasounds are 90% correct in determining the sex of a baby.

My husband is great, though... he keeps reminding me that if we have all pink stuff and the baby turns out to be a boy it will just be funning. It won't be the end of the world and the baby won't care. I'm so lucky to have him! The main point is that baby is healthy and I have to remind myself of that.

Well the sonographer who guessed our bubs gender has not been wrong in the three years she has been working there even though she is 96% sure its a girl and there were the "three lines" too and no penis in sight. Generally its rare nowadays for them to be wrong. Rest assured ladies you are having girls

I love the way everyone is now calling it winkie like my ds1 lol

As Noelle said I have never personally met anyone who was told the wrong sex at a scan - I think it is quite a rarity (sp?). Please dont worry OP I am sure you really are on team pink xx

Im having scans every 2 weeks for now so even though I was told baby is a girl and I have picsof it Ill be having the sonographer look every time I go and I havent bought the first thing yet :)

when i had my 20 week scan with my son who is 7 in april i was told i was having a girl!! luckily i had done the room neutral and it was just clothes that we had to exchange which all of the shops kindly did as i had had some of them for 3 months, i did not get a clear view myself at that scan though.... with my next baby 18 months later i could plainly see for myself the 3 white lines and believed it was a girl this time.I think if the view is clear enough and the legs are apart enough then you should believe it is a girl.x
