Hi ladies,

As probably you know, VBAC stads for Vaginal Birth After C section..

I am expecting my second one, EDD is October 2015 so still months ahead to plan everything...

I didnt have the best labour experience with my first one, (was induced at 42 weeks in hospital which was too busy, took me 2 and half days to kick in the proper contractions, everything ended up with emergency C section) and the whole recovery was just pain in the butt...

So.. I was thinking to really give a try to give birth naturally this time around.. and I was wondering if there is anyone here who has done that: give birth with second baby, after having C section with a previous one??

I would love to hear other moms experience ..

Hi Iria,

I had a successful vbac 2 years ago. With my ds1, I had an emcs due to being in labor for 3.5 days and him getting stuck (pushed for over 2 hours) :S he was 9.1 lbs.
I was luckily approved for a vbac with my second and it went really well. I was in labor for about 10 hours from first little sign of labor to ds2 being born. I had a scan a week before I went into labor and they told me he would be roughly 6 lbs. We were all shocked when he was 9.2 lbs when he come out haha.
I am due in Sept with #3 and hoping to have another natural delivery.
I personally had a good experience. I did go in with the mind frame of if I ended up getting another c section, all that mattered was healthy baby; which helped me alot with the anxiety of if I had another emcs. I pretty much went in with no birth plan so that I wasn't upset if I needed another c section.

I wish you all the best!

I had a vbac 6 months ago.

I was very nervous and had begged for another cs.

They took me and broke my waters then just monitored me closely.

Only difference between it and previous natural birth was they made me have a epidural in case I had to go to theatre.

The epidural didn't take in the end but after 5 hours she was here all 8 lb 13 oz and I was home within 24 hours!

Thanks so much a quick reply!!

Can you tell me on how the "approval" to go with VBAC looks like? Do they exam your past labour in details or is there anything about your healing scar??
I am horrified about all those "scar repture " stories, though I have just started my research on VBAC and I could possibly be one minded right now ;)..

I would looove to go natural way and recover within days to be able to take care of my newborn and my older one...

Wow!! That is a great story!!
Very happy for you that you had such a good experience!!

Experiences like those make me bit less nervous...

My odds were better because I had had a previous natural birth and my cs was planned due to breech.

They looked at a lot of factors and gave me percentage of it being a success.

I'm not going to lie I was terrified of my scar rupturing as it had bothered me all through the 3rd pregnancy. But they just asked me was I feeling pain in it during contractions.

They recommend at least 12 months between previous cs and attempted vbac.

Just go into it with a open mind and be aware that you may need a cs and at least you have prepared yourself.

At the end of the day you have a gorgeous new baby and so long as they are safe does it really matter how they come out?!

for the approval, I was sent to a specialist and she just told me the risks associated with vbacs, kinda went over my pregnancy/delivery with ds1. She then sent me for an ultrasound to look at something with how my scar tissue and uterus was and to see what size baby was. After she received the report from the ultrasound I had another appointment with her and she said I was a candidate for vbac.
But stay off Google!! I worried myself sick with reading vbac horror stories. They know what to look for when you are in labor and you would know. :)

Sounds cool! Im going to be 3 and half years after my CS when due with this baby so I think its pretty long time..

I agree, at the end it doesnt matter.. I love my son to bits and could go through this 10 more times, but my partner and I live away from our families (we live in UK, and our families in France) so I will pretty much will be left alone with recovering and two children.. that is why I am so for the idea of having it naturally..

Wow, that is really good care you ve had!!
I am not sure where you live, I hope that english NHS has the same VBAC care!! :dohh: ...
The first scan appoitment I have end of March, and my first midwife appoitment I have two weeks before the scan.. so its pretty much one month of self research.. and yeah, I got it already- no google about VBAC,I ve got too sensitive head for that to read.. :nope:

Just be strong and tell them you want to attempt the vbac.

They do a scan at around 32 weeks to check scar tissue and see the position of the scar in relation to placenta etc.

I had forgotten about that part!

I know I was on the ctg constantly from they decided to break my waters.

I completely understand why your against another cs with 2 kids to care for and wishing you the best of luck xxx

I was a VBAC but will still plan to do natural birth anyway.

I had EMCS 5 years ago with my first son Cuz he was stuck and I couldn't push him out. He was 7lbs 14oz. I was so gutted that I couldn't do natural birth with him but it hadn't put me off.

2 years later my youngest son came, I always put EMCS/CS at last resort because I know the experience I had with first son, and my 2nd son came out fast than I expected him to be out in like 7 hours but no, just 2 hours! He was 6 pounds 7oz.

It was beautiful experience to do the birth to feel what it is like without have to do a CS again! My cousin had 3 or 2 CS not sure, she don't like the pushing the baby out... :-/ but I love it! Lol!!
