I do not know what to ask for at my first appt. I do not want her to just poke me and give me a pregnancy test. With my last pregnancy she did no bloodwork at the first appt. So I am anxious if I should ask to have progesterone, hcg, etc checked??? Should I ask for an early scan???

I hope you get an answer on this as I am curious as well. (I have my first appointment tomorrow). However when I went to my doctor when I was planning on getting pregnant, she told me that my chances were just as low for having another one as if I never had a m/c to begin with. I might request an early scan though because I'm not scheduled for one until 10/4 and its driving me crazy with worry! Good luck to you, I hope your appointment goes well!!

I got my progesterone checked the day I got my BFP after my miscarriage. I had low progesterone problems in the past so this was a high priority for me. My progesterone was on the low side (12.7) so I was put on Crinone progesterone support immediately. I am glad I got on this immediately because in my first pregnancy I did not get it until a few weeks into it and then oops, it's low, oh start it now but three days later the baby did not make it. I did not want to take that chance this time.

I did ask my Dr. about baby aspirin which he said would not be harmful but he did not think it would make a difference either way. I did not end up taking any baby aspirin this time.

I didn't wait for my first appointment to request bloodwork. I had two HcG/Progesterone tests right away (10 and 12 dpo) and one at 21 dpo. Bloodwork has no risks to the baby so this was an easy decision!

I also requested a viability scan. I chose 8 weeks to save myself the horror of going in at 6 weeks, them not finding a heartbeat, and then having to wait 10 days to learn that the baby is fine. I was a bit torn on the u/s as it's not very clear what their impact on a developing fetus is, which I had to balance against the need to know if this pregnancy was viable.
