Supposed to be similar to clomid and I did have an egg on each side with it but wondering why my dr put me on this...anyone else put on tamoxifen instead of clomid?
One IUI done and failed :( so sad today but preparing to move to the next ... Anyone with IUI success, I have PCOS

Hi i also have pcos and was on clomid last year. I fell pregnant on 2nd round but miscarried at 7 weeks. Dr gave me clomid for another 4 months but had no luck. I have now been given tamoxifen 20mg to take for 4 days but can't start til next mth. Was told that its stronger than clomid. Clomid is normally only given for a short period of time.

Good luck and keep me updated on how you get on x

Our doctor told us today that Tamoxifen is like the sister of clomid, both are estrogen blockers, and both work in the same way. The mechanism of action is by blocking the estrogen signal that the ovary sends to the pituitary gland telling it stop making FSH because a follicle is developing. Thus the pituitary still signals FSH and hence, in theory, the ovary develops more follicles. The difference between them is that tamoxifen is stronger than clomid.

Thanks! I'm on tamoxifen 40mg a day, days 5-9
Didn't know it was stronger than clomid, thanks for the info!
