Thanks scarlett- off to my mums north of the river. Lots of family there so lots of dinners and celebrating. DH has a suprise dinner booked on Sayurday night. Started last night with the local mums :-/. Had a few prosecco's. now officially 1dpo so no more not holding hope this month. I kind of follow SMEP- but not to the letter. I have Acu tonight too

I'm moving 50 miles away to another county I met my OH through work as we do the same job but in different counties so for a long time we've only really had weekends together (and then of course we'd make extra trips in the week around O!) I've finally sold my house so I'm moving in with him and hopefully his house will sell quickly so we can buy a new one together not looking forward to moving at all, but it's funny since my BFP I've felt like I need to be with him more than usual....like it's not just I miss him like I normally do but more than that!!

Anywho sorry for long post. Hope accu goes well tonight and you have a very happy birthday!! xx

Hi ladies, This morning I finally had my appointment with a top fertility doc specialising in Chinese medicine and paid a small fortune for the visit but I did not feel it was worth it. I would need to pay much more to start the actual treatment. She said a lot of general stuff that we know anyway about lifestyle etc. she did not pay much attention to my DH's low sperm count and just said that if my body is well I can get pregnant with any kind of sperm count. I really want to believe this but I do not think it's true. One of the scariest things she said after looking at my list of herbs (from my previous doc) is that I should stop them immediately because they are causing my cycle to get shorter which she thinks is a problem. So basically I paid for 4 months acu and herbs just to screw my health even worse? She said that every doc has a different style but that's not the combination of herbs she would prescribe ever to smb with my deficiencies. I am seriously upset and not sure whom to trust anymore.

it is very frustrating, i think taking a good vitamin should be good enough. our fertility specialist told us that for both me and my husband. I don't believe people like us can get pregnant alone with a well body when our husbands have a low sperm count, take the FS advice not the accuputure.
I like my accuputure lady I pay as I go and go for 2/3 week a month at the beginning of my cycle.

good luck. when is your hubby due to have anothe sperm test?

Oh Briss I'm so sorry to hear that how confusing for you and what an awful situation to be in

I guess every doc is different, and also if she charges loads more (and she prob knows that) then she's going to tell you what you've been doing so far is wrong....because if she told you it was all fine, would you think about switching to her still? Sorry I'm being cynical... Have your cycles been shorter since you've started treatment with your other lady? And what made you think about seeing this one? I get the feeling that you don't feel especially warm towards the new expensive lady anyway.... have you googled them both to see what other woman have to say about them, or have you had friends/family suggest either/both of them?

I do have to say though that my OH had low motility, he had quit smoking for a couple of months when we got our BFP so maybe that helped...but it does only take one. I think cos we dtd every other day (rather than everyday) and the acu and herbs gave me tons more EWCM (sorry tmi) it helped make the difference for us. So yes it isn't ideal, but it DEFO is possible!

I hope you've got a lovely weekend planned, maybe a few days away from the situation and then when you go back to it the answer will be clearer for you

Ladies thank you! My DH immediately disliked the expensive doc, in a way I agree because for the money we paid I did not get anything, she just talked a lot about healthy life style and how difficult it is to conceived after 35 etc, I know all that. she did not prescribe any herbs or anything yet, I was supposed to do blood test but once I was told how much it's gonna cost I kinda changed my mind (around 700 pounds for blood test and sperm test, this is ridiculous!). She checked our pulses and tongues and said we had a lot of heat that needs to be cleared before she can see the picture. She is considered to be one of the best in the area judging by all the publicity https://www.zhaiclinic.com/ reviews are amazing that's why I went to her. She must be good at what she does but the money it is going to cost are comparable to full on IVF treatment. I would be prepared to pay all that but after the first appointment I just feel like I paid for nothing.

My cycles got shorter after I had lap/Hysteroscopy and I was hoping acu+ herbs can get it back to normal but with my previous doc they did not improve. Thuis doc was recommended to me by a friend. Her family has been going to this doc for ages. But after 4 months of weekly treatments you would expect to feel some sort of positive change and I did not. that's why I stopped seeing her. I am sure she is a good doc probably fertility is just not her strong point. However, she also went on about clearing heat.

I am hearing so many positive stories about TCM but it's just not what I see in reality, I've been to 3 docs so far. After my first visit I was left with terrible bruising (she did some sort of really painful treatment to clear heat), the second one did not have any positive effect and the expensive one just feels like money making machine. I am particularly depressed because this appointment was my chance to persuade my DH that TCM is a real thing not some nonsense and the appointment confirmed quite the opposite. Not even sure where I go from here

Sorry to hear of your experience Briss. I have been to two Acu peeps and they are both different. Although both have been different my second one didnt say anything about the way the first treated me. And believe me there is s big difference and i have only seen the new one twice. Professionalism tells me they shouldn't do hat but from your post the lady seems well acknowledged in the field so not sure what to make of that.

I guess like Scarlett says- take some time out and think about it. I know it can costa. Fortune as the first bloke I went to was really expensive. Just Acu alone was £70 and herbs on top. At one point he was asking to see me 3/4 times a week!
I hope Horus weekend goes well and resolves your frustrations somewhat,

Of of interest when did you get your lap and dye done?

Scarlett- thanks for your message! I may have a few tomorrow but will see how I feel- super stinky cold and been taking lots of mums's TLC in. Acu was fine- she didn't check plus but did the tongue once she had done the points- weird as I thought they do tongue and pulse first to see what points to do. Still bloated so points on that and some more on the outer ankle she said were for hormonal balance. I also had he beginnings of my cold so she did some nasal ones as I was sinuses. She still didn't give me herbs but said will see how I am the next time I see her. Next session is 24th. Am about 3dpo and nicely not symptom spotting as I am distracted

Minimin, thanks I agree that professional ethics is so important when one professional criticises another it just makes you doubt the entire profession. money wise, i can pay 130 per acu session and 10 pounds a day for herbs but I am not going to pay 700 pounds for blood tests and without them she cant start the treatment. I am trying to find if I can get some bloods done for free with NHS. I did lap&Dye exactly a year ago

Briss - 700 OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is simply ridiculous and also disgusting that someone feels so comfortable charging that kind of money for those tests. I'm really angry on your behalf!!! Has the weekend and some time helped with your decision? I'm really sorry you haven't found the acu helpful in the time you've been going and I'd defo be frustrated if I was in your situation too. Did the previous lady give any idea why it was taking longer than hoped to sort your cycles out? Interesting though that they all talked about heat for you.

Minimin - belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY and I hope you had a wonderful weekend! Sorry to hear you started a cold though, that was rubbish timing! Hope you're feeling a lot better now and you had the weekend being spoilt rotten!

Scarlett, thanks, I am glad I am not the only one who thinks paying 700 for blood tests is ridiculous, particularly because I've already done some of them, they may be not the most recent results but they give you a picture of my condition anyway. I will be trying to get bloods done via NHS for free (but it's going to take a while) and also look into going to my very first doc on weekend. Still cant quite make up my mind it all seem to be a matter of luck really
