Hi all

I am currently using a microwave sterilser for my bottles and am using Aptamil cartons. I believe when you open the steriliser it is no long sterile and therefore I am using a bottle at a time to pour my Aptamil carton in to and then having to put the steriliser on again.

Is there a better way of doing things?

Kat

I use a microwave sterilizer but i believe the bottles are all still sterile after i open it. i use tongs to pick up the bottles and nipples and place them on a cleaned area on my counter.

it says on my instructions for microwaveable sterilizer that once microwaved for 8 mins the bottles and everything stay sterile for 2 hours..

I use a microwave steriliser and I make up my bottles and put them in the fridge for up to 24hrs - I use cartons of SMA high energy milk. Then I just heat them up when needed xx

Just because it's not sterile doesn't mean it's contaminated. Unless the air is bad...
I take my bottles out and close them up until I want them.

Great thanks for the advice. Will probably put all the bottles together and find somewhere to store them.

they wont be sterile once the lid is lifted, but they will be very very clean and unless you drag tham about the garden through lots of dirt they will be fine x

Tomee tippee do a single bottle sterilser. They recommend that that's the best way

i was going to get a microwave sterilizer now that im using formula as well as ebm. so this was a useful thread!

I have a microwave one as well. I was also under the impression that they are "sterile" or clean at least for 24 hours.

technically they aren't sterile as soon as you open the lid, but lets be realistic - how dirty are they going to get between there and getting used?

aslong as you take a bottle out and put the lid back on the steriliser then it'll be fine.

in saying that i make all my bottles up for the day at night and add the formula when i need them.
