well my LO is 16 days old and has been feeding on SMA gold, but she has recently been very unsettled, crying alot and inconsolable. the health visitor came today and i told her i thought she might have colic etc, she recommended switching milks to Aptimil comfort, which used to be called aptimil easy digest. for colic and constipated babies.
As she said Lily might be finding it hard to digest SMA and as its very thin causing her to get more wind. so she recommended this as its got less lactose in to make it easier to digest, and its thicker which means when taking it from the teat she wont get as much wind.

has anyone else to switch to this or have you used it already? and if you have have you found your LO's more settled and seems alot happier?

thanks! :)

i tried it but it made Sydnee stop feeding as much, that doesnt mean to say it will be the same for your lo though. Its thicker so she got more tired from having to suck harder so she didnt feed as much (being premature she gets tired very easily)

you have to use the faster flow teats, i tried the 3+ month ones (tommee tippee closer to nature) & the milk was still really hard to get out! I gave up in the end as she wasnt feeding & switched back to the normal aptimil because i was worried about her losing weight.

I changed Olivia from Aptimil to Aptimil comfort. It took a few days for her to get used to it, she did seem a bit more windy to begin with. After the first few days she was much more settled. I did have to go up a teat size due to the increased thickness of milk. Glad I changed though.

thansk ladies! yeh i got told to use the vari flow teats but i do have the fast flow ones just incase! yeh i suppose its different for every baby but i just hope it works i feel so sorry for her when shes crying and i cant comfort her!

thanks again :flower: xx

i did exactly the same - switched from sma gold to aptamil comfort - lola is a little better but we still struggle with wind. I've tried different bottles/teats and colic drops but nothing works. Have resigned myself to just waiting til she grows out of it. xx

I used Aptamil from the start with our LO but she had bother with colic and only one dirty nappy every 3-4 days, we moved to Aptamil Comfort when she was about 10 weeks and have never looked back, using variflow teats, she now has no trouble with wind and she has a dirty nappy daily, a much happier baby and Mum!! It is £1 more per box but def worth it.

Must add that we also use DR Brown bottles and Infacol, but have fromn the start to be honest when her colic started.

thats good to know! shes been so much better with it, we use colief drops in the milk too, very similiar to infacol and shes been alot more settled. so glad i changed! she goes down very easy at night and we have no problems! :)

Yep, we changed to Aptamil Comfort when Charlie-boy was around 6 weeks old and it did him the world of good. I also had him on gripe water which helped with the wind and colic, but we don't use that anymore.

Can't recommend it enough to be honest. You may find though that their farts tend to get more whiffy....just make sure you hold your nose when your LO does one!!! Ha Ha!

ha i have noticed that, she stinks most of the time as all she does is fart!! haha. but yeh shes definatly better with the aptamil so glad ive changed! xx

I had to change my LO from Aptimal to Aptimal comfort on the doctors advice he had more than just colic, the doctor thinks he has a sensitive stomach like i do.
The first day he was a changed baby i was amazed.
I was so worried when it came to putting him on follow on milk ive found a comfort milk for follow on, i would reccommend comfort milk to anyone who's baby needs it.
As it's thicker i would move to vari flow teats then medium flow at 3 months and fast flow at 6 months they will make it much easier for your baby
