Forgive the title, seems whenever i post no-one has anything to say anymore :)

Was hoping for a little advice.

My son got a tummy bug 3.5 weeks ago, since this he has had his 2nd jabs, last tues in fact. Since his tummy bug (he was on 6oz bottles) he only takes 4oz and today has started pooing after every feed. I was told that the bug may have left him midly lactose intolerant but would this make him take less feed and poo after each one??

The health visitor is meant to be coming tomorrow but we've had quite a covering of snow today and guess it will be cancelled so was wondering if anyone may be able to advise me.

I have been told i could try lactose free milk on a temporary basis - would it be worth trying??? I just don't want to upset his system anymore than it already is/has been. He seems ok in himslef, a lot better than he was, im just concerned about the 4oz feeds and the sudden pooing after each bottle.

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks xxx

I was told when they poo right after a feed it's because it goes through them faster than normal. Sounds like this is the case for you.

Maybe this is just a step back until the tummy feels better. Hope that's soon!

And for what it's worth it drives me bonkers when I don't get many replies. Sorry this is happening .

Thank you alwayspraying.

Hmmmm, that would make sense. Its just annoying because his bug was nearly a month ago now :( Poor little man.

It drives me mad too hehe, never mind. Thank you xxx

Hmm it may be worthwhile trying a lactose free formula for a while after asking your doctor; as sometimes it is hard for their tummy to get back to normal otherwise, you usually only need to use it for a couple of weeks

i can't give you any advice as i dont know-i only have the one LO and she is only 5 1/2 weeks.

When you were told about the lactose intolerance after a bug did they explain why? I don't understand how it can happen?

Just a wee update for you. The health visitor came on Monday as planned - regardless of the snow, and told me she didn't think he was lactose intolerant - he had been fed 30 mins earlier. He weighed in at 15lb 8.5oz which is a smaller weight gain than he used to have but still a gain and he is still on the same centile as when he was born - he did have a huge weight gain at one point but has levelled out. She was happy with his progress and told me that i should stick to what i was doing and if i was concerned i had to take him to the GP and get the test done to confirm LI before I changed his milk. tu123 - i wasn't told how LI can occur after a bug, no sorry so i have no idea, i thought it strange too. Anyway since the HV came we have had an improvement and he has finally upped his intake of milk to 5-6oz at a time and last night he actually slept thru from 9.45pm-8am. I managed to close in the last 2 bottles so he'd had 5 and it must have filled him well. Bless him, i think we're defo getting somewhere at long last...

Thank you for your replies ladies :)

Hugs to all xxx
