Anyone who has/had SPD...Please Help. [Update Page 3]

Remeber that induction is basically forcing baby out before they're ready. It can be successful but has the risk of failure to progress ending up in a csection which obviously has a longer healing process.

okay THEY DO induce PREG LADIES before the 40th week 100s of women are and all are healthy babies!:thumbup::thumbup:

my sister has been induced with all of her 3 children at 38 weeks 39 weeks and 40 weeks and all of her children are healthy and with her 2nd child she had SPD and was bedbound and was induced and the spd left as soon as she had her child

i have SPD very bad case in a wheelchair and they are going to induce me at 38 weeks preg i talked with an Hospital consultant though not the Local GP

I have been to see a physiotherapist about this and have been offered acupuncture if it doesn't improve, maybe you should contact your mw and ask about it or see if can contact a physician yourself. I was also given some light exercise a birthing ball is meant to be a help and a support band.

Hope this helps
xx

How did the midwife go this morning? x x

Really they should have sent you to physio. I have this and know how agonising the pain is..At physio they would usually give you a list of do's and dont's, support belts to wear and positions for labour etc. Sounds like they are being very slack. Give your midwife a call and say you would like to go for some physio...they should have offered you this! Its such a horrible pain isn't it...poor you! x

Hey everyone sorry didnt update you all right away.

Doctors went better then i expected tbh, she gave me a referal for the physio which she suggested i take straight to the hospital and not post because it would get me in quicker, when i went there though they looked at the referel card and said "ha ha good luck getting this before you having the baby" not even a joke they were her actual words. so im feeling really optimistic atm :/

I did ask my doctor about induction and she said it can be done but they would prefer to use it as a last resort because it can possible end in c-section if labour doesnt progress like they want so she said try the physio first and then they will consider the induction. Which im glad because in a way i dont want a c-section so will be willing to try other methods first.

Hopefully i will get a call/letter from the physio soon, if nothing by next week though i will be going back into the doctor and speaking to them again

and @blah11 i've not been prescribed any pain relief just told to take paracetamol.

hope physio get you in quickly. i saw mine within a week of referral i think, and it did help, she had so many tips and tricks for reducing pain. she also gave me a piece of torso-sized tubigrip to wear around my hips and lower bump which helps. i've also had McTimoney Chiropractic - which helped. although I am biased because my mum is the chiropractor who treats me lol.

Great news! I hope you will hear soon from the physio.

yeah me too, hopefully the physio will see i haven't got long left and fit me in, although she did tell me it was a 6 week wait which is pretty pointless because im due in 4 lol.

we can only wait and see :)

xx

Poor you, I can sympathise with this as I've had spd since 15 weeks. It did improve a bit in the middle so I could manage with it but the last couple of weeks it's been getting unbearable. I've been in tears the last 3 days as I feel so useless in the day not being able to do much round the house (and I think I am having very strong nesting instinct at the moment which isn't helping!) but night time is the worse. I'm not comfortable in any position so hardly sleep and am waking up virtually unable to move. It gets a bit better once I'm up but this morning I thought I couldn't even get out of bed on my own. I'm starting to get seriously worried about labour as I can't stay in one position for long and I'm also really concerned that I'm going to end up with permanent damage - I don't know what I'd do if this doesn't go away once the baby is here :( I've had sympathetic midwife and doctor but to be honest I still feel like they've been a bit useless. The physio gave me a belt which was no help and actually made me more uncomfortable, some exercises which hurt and a few tips such as don't walk too much etc! I went back last week to talk about sleeping and labour - I couldn't even get into the sleeping positions she was recommending and the suggested labour positions (e.g. on all fours) sound all well and good, but I don't think I could hold them for very long. I've been really upset about this today... I hope the physio can help you a bit more as you've got a few more weeks to go than me. I do think that they pretty much leave us to get on with it though......

try cocodamol if youre really having a bad day :hugs:

I Saw a physio within 1 week!! dont know why the physio react so badly to you so unfair they just tell you to take it easy and to do pelvic floor exercises JUST PRAY hard that you go into labour at 38 weeks naturally thats what am doing its so unbearable

Just to repeat an earlier post than can and do induce early due to severe SPD,i knowthere are risks to induction though.

I was induced with my 6th baby at 37+5 due to severe SPD and other issues (they thought he'd stopped growing). The induction took nearly 3 days as my cervix wasnt favourable, but he was born at 38 weeks weighing 8lb 1 and perfectly healthy. He is 7.5 now, expecting my 9th very soon.

You wasn't in labour for 3 days though? did it take 3 days for labour to start? how long was your labour?

no,labour was 48 mins-lol!.Took from the friday afternoon till the sunday morning at 10.30am to get to 2cm with the gel and then break my waters.12.5 hours later at 11pm was checked again after being on the drip for about 9 hours-still 2cm-was getting pains but no progress-then he was born at 11.48pm-gave them all a suprise ha ha! but i knew he would be born soon-most of my labours have been the same-nothing for ages, then 0-60 in 5 seconds flat!

I just had a phonecall from the hospital and they have booked me in for 3:45 on thursday!! im actually gobsmacked at how quickly they have put me in. The lady on the phone sounded really nice and was really sympathetic so hopefully thats a good sign and she will be able to help me :)

Also thanks girls for all your advice it really helped knowing other people have had bad experiances and different outcomes

xx

What have they booked you in for? great to hear that they were so nice and supportive x

im not 100% sure tbh haha, she just said i was booked into see a physio so im guessing they will help me with excercise and things, well thats what i hope anyway.

Hopefully it will help even if in a small way.

x
