Anyone who has/had SPD...Please Help. [Update Page 3]

Sorry you've got the dreaded SPD, I also had a physio referral which wasn't that useful-crutches, those belt things that dig in and so not much use HOWEVER at 37 weeks I was given a tens machine by them which did give me some relief. So it might be worth asking about that? The things that helped me (and are now too in this pregnancy) are my evening half hour in the bath and wearing silky pj's in bed as it takes a LOT less effort to turn in bed at night.

I got a few sweeps, 2 before my due date. I think it just depends on your midwife, I was given a "cheeky sweep" before my due date in my midwife's words!!

One consolation I was told that due to my pelvis already opening up before labour I could have a quick labour...and I did :thumbup:

not all inductions end bad iv had 2 one at 37 weeks one at 38 due to servere spd and kidney issues. went in at 8am and id had my dd by 1.54pm the same day. my ds was even quicker :)

that's great to hear that they were Quick everyone is different aint we? what is ds?

DS = dear son

The doc checked position today and I mentioned if he was head down I would have wanted him to induce me since it is rare for him to be in the right position and I have to have a c-section b/c he is transverse. He said that US standard of care states they cannot induce prior to 39 weeks! I am sure there are exceptions to this rule and induction here done with pitocin so it is a little different. I just thought that was interesting that both him and the nurse said they couldnt induce me even if they wanted to!

I am sure if something was really wrong they would. But maybe not, if something was wrong I think they might do a c-section before doing early induciton. I was just hoping he would be in the right position and they could induce me instead of waiting around for a c-section next week!

Hey hun I had bad SPD aswell, it's aswful isn't it :hugs:

On induction is does carry a lot more risks for mother and baby as the body isn't ready to go into labour, I think induction should be a last resort after all other options have been exhausted i.e. pain releif, physio, pregnancy belt, crutches etc. I went into natural labour and mine lasted four days. On the 3rd day they put me on the induction drip to make me dilate quicker as I was exhausted and they wanted to bring the labour on. BUT I wish they hadn't, I was laid on my bad strapped to a monitor (as they have to monitor baby due to the drip) and I felt awful. Induction isn't the easy way out and it is risky for mother and baby, my sons heartrate was dropping below 100 towards the end and it very nearly ended in an emergancy c-sec. Your doing great sweetie :hugs: I hope the physio works xx
