Took my 16 day old to the doctors today for suspected silent reflux and doctor agreed and prescribed 5mg of losec every 24 hours just wondering if anyone has used it would like to know all about it. The good and the bad. And around my daughters age also xx Tia

Yes, my lo was on lo from younger than your lo until he was 1. We were on 5mg once a day too initially. We found that the liquid was much more effective than the mups, probably because it was easier to get him to take. Are you on liquid or mups?

I'd say it took about 2 weeks of being on the liquid before we saw an improvement.

Remember that the dosage is weight dependant so if lo has a growth spurt you may notice symptoms coming back and you'll need to speak to your doc for a new dosage.

I think it's mups I'm from Australia so it my be called something different. It's a dissolvable tablet that I have to cut in half. Chemist lady said that the liquid goes off quick so has to be thrown away after 2-4 weeks I think she said. Was your lo breastfed or formula? And was it just reflux with no allergies to dairy? I cut out all dairy of my diet but that didnt help. Things actually seemed to get worse.

Yeah mups are the dissolvable tablets. We had just silent reflux. No diary allergies or anything. Lo was ff and comfort ate a lot at your lo's age as the milk soothed the acid.

Yes, the liquid does go off in 4 weeks. We got a tiny bottle and had to keep running to the chemist. Just something to bear in mind if the tablets aren't doing a good enough job.

My lo suffered worst at night with it so we were told to give the whole dose before bed instead if splitting it.

I really hope it works for you. You definitely have my sympathy!

I have been told just 1 5mg dose in 24 hours. It has already seemed to have help a little she has slept without screaming in agony for almost 3 hours. She hasn't done this since a week old =) I'm actually getting to eat my tea with no baby on my chest lol. She is still gagging and grunting/squirming but no screaming along side it I'm so happy my baby girl is happier already. She is breastfed but seems to have gone off my milk since the reflux started a week ago. She wants to nurse constantly but once she is on she comes straight back off. I had to give her a formulae feed just to get some fluids I to her as I can't pump enough and she gulped it down within minutes the poor girl =(

My lo was prescribed Losec when he was 2months and it helped his silent reflux so much it was wonderful no more screaming baby 24/7. We also used the tablet dissolved in water. Then he outgrew the reflux when he was 4months and we took him off the medication and he is fine now.

I'm so glad it helped your little boy it's horrible isn't it. It makes you feel so useless when you can't help them =( I have already seen a slight improvement she seems so much more like herself again =)
