My OH had the snip after having his children with his ex wife as they had decided they didnt want anymore kids.
He had a reversal 18 months ago, while it worked, he now has very poor motitliy resulting in us having to go down the long road of IVF/ICSI.
I dont have any children of my own and have found the whole thing of TTC very difficult!!!
I just wanted to see if there were any other ladies out there in the same situation, how have you coped, are you any closer in getting that BFP???

Hi~

My OH had a vasectomy after having 2 kids with his ex. The vasectomy was many years ago - he later underwent 2 surgeries to have it reversed. The second surgery was "successful" but he has super low count (~1.8 million) and very low motility (~1%) really bad, huh.

I've been feeling like I don't want to put myself through IVF. (All you ladies who are taking this route are amazing!) My OH is open to using a donor (I think it helps him that he has biological children already) so we found a known donor, signed contracts to avoid legal issues, inspected STD test results, and went ahead with artificial insemination (at home) using the donor's sperm.

This month was our first try with the assistance of the donor and I'm hopeful that I'll conceive soon. I'm 27 - so I feel like we have plenty of time to try IVF later if my feelings change or I have trouble conceiving using a donor. That played a role in our decision. Also we want a big family so I'm trying to keep my costs down.

These are tough decisions though - and you and your OH have to be on the same page. If you want to talk more one-on-one send me a personal message. Our situations are quite similar. :)

There is always hope! We live in a world today where there is so much help available for people who can't conceive in traditional ways. I'm grateful for that.

Hi Maryland,
Nice to talk to someone in the same boat!
Im 28 yrs old, met my OH 5 years ago and he told me right from the start about the snip. I asked him if he did want more children from the beginning so we both knew what we wanted. He was about 28 (hes 36 now) when he had the snip and says he feels differently now. I have found it very difficult once we realised we were'nt getting anywhere on our own, I try to stay positive though.
Im ready for IVF as I see it as the only way for us. Do you know your donor very well?I agree, I can understand why it would help as he has biological children.
I hope it works for you hun x

My OH had the reversal 14 years after original vasectomy, it went really well, the motility is not great but the count was 41 million. Sadly that was 18 months ago and we are no nearer to our BFP, had an IVF cycle cancelled last month due to poor response but I am ever hopeful and will be trying again in February.

Good Luck hun xx

Motility seems to be the issue after a reversal! My OH has been on MACA and ZINC for the last 5 months which havnt made a blind bit of differance.
We just had our follow up appointment today with the FS and are heading for IVF/ICSI but dont have a date yet. I just want to get started with it now!
My OH had the reversal 18 mths ago too, it seems like a life time ago! Hope you get to start treatment again soon xx
