Harvey's nursery always lets me know if he's had any teary episodes or not really been himself. If they didn't then I'd get suspicious about how he actually was and take him out as I wouldn't be able to trust them.

When i worked in nurseries we were told to be careful how we word things to parents and to play it down and then always end with a positive.
In pre-schools i have worked in we were always totally honest.
As a parent i want to know the truth.... the policy in the nursery OP mentions, doesnt surprise me in the slightest xxx

LOs nursery literally tell you everything, they have communication books and it recommends aswell as nursery writing in them that other people who look after LO write in them so they know how hes been, if hes been abit off it, if somethings happened that might make him not be his normal self and i dont always write in it as ill tell them if hes been off it but i love how honest they are and how they tell you everything
