I'm a bit nervous for an upcoming appointment and was wondering what I can expect. I have significant cramping from CD5-11dpo and am worried this is preventing us from TTC. They told me over the phone this wasn't common but wasn't unheard of so they want me to come in for a pelvic pain appt. What can I expect?

It doesn't help that I'm seeing a male gyno for the first time and am nervous about that alone!

Also, thanks to my cycle running longer this month, I'll be on day 4 of AF. Wondering if I should just reschedule because of this but it took me weeks to get in!!

Hi Nodrama,

I have experienced ongoing pelvic pain for many years. When my GP finally referred me to a specialist, she did an internal, and I believe sent me for a transvaginal ultrasound. I am waiting to go back in the fall to be scheduled for a lap to either confirm or rule out endometriosis. She wanted us to try and wait a little longer before doing that procedure. I have suffered from undiagnosed pelvic pain for years, and to be honest, they don't really do much. FX that they figure out what is going on! I know that I experience pretty severe Ov pain, but it is usually only on the day I O. Possibly what you are experiencing but for longer?

I understand the awkwardness of having a male gyno. I always had female, until recently . I am currently experiencing a miscarriage? ectpoic? no one really knows yet... But I have had a number of different doctors through this experience, mostly male. I just told myself this is what they do for a living and I am one of many many patients. For some reason, I actually found them more empathetic and helpful than my female doctors. I dont have an answer for you about going while on AF, but if they didnt tell you otherwise Im sure it will be fine.

When is your appointment? Best of luck!

Thanks for sharing your info, jwilly. I actually posted a follow up thread after my appt yesterday: https://babyandbump.momtastic.com/trying-conceive-1/2390476-doctor-said-something-odd-thoughts.html

I didn't mind the male as much as I thought I would. Basically, since my charts show that I ovulate he believes the pain is likely endometriosis. I have a transv u/s next week and then he wants me to go back in August if I haven't gotten my BFP to talk about doing a lap... I'd really like to avoid that if I can! Reading the endo stories online my pain is certainly not as intense as some women describe theirs and I don't have it during AF so I'm holding out hope... Good luck with your journey!

Glad the appointment went well. Sounds as though we are in a similar situation. I dont suffer around AF time like others do. Mostly only around ovulation. My last appointment at the fertility clinic was in march, and I convinced myself I would never get pregnant naturally, but I ended up falling pregnant the following month. Best of luck with your journey as well!
