April Mummies 2011

Rex is loving his food. He tried some pear purée today & swallowed the whole lot! I've got a blister on my finger from peeling & chopping so much fruit & veg! We've now got loads of pear, apple, carrot & sweet potato ice cube portions in our freezer :-)

Cheese, if you made all Isis' food would that help? Then it is still coming from you iykwim

I started weaning about 2 weeks ago. Twins have just had their first savory meal, Ruby loved it but Harley cried at it. Cant believe how opposite they are in everything x

Ladies please don't feel rushed to start solids!
If you want to hold off, then hold off!
Babies don't NEED food until they're about 1 years old!
Milk is all they need right now

We'll start BLW around 6 months, but it'll be just "playtime".. her playing with food. If she eats it then she eats it, if she doesn't then that is completely fine.

I'm not weaning yet, don't think Matilda is anywhere near ready but am excited for when she is. Going to go to a weaning session at my local children's centre soon, want to do BLW but could do with some tips plus you get a free bowl and spoon!

Aleena can sit up supported easily now and even play.
She can sit unsupported for a min too!

thanks for the support everyone! I talked with DH a little this morning about it (we work in the same office) and he says that I'm over-thinking it too much and maybe I am.
I do think Isis is getting ready for solids. I guess that doesn't mean I have to be. Now when I feed her medicines like tylenol and vitamin D she doesn't thrust them out, she swallows them. This is new in the last week. She also sits well when assisted. She watches what we eat and mimics our mouth movements. She doesn't reach for our food off our plate but mostly because I don't eat with her on my lap. Those of you who have given your LO's solids, did you skip the cereal? I don't understand why I have to give my daughter wallpaper paste as her first food. I'd like to give her something yummy like sweet potato or avocado but everyone here gives cereal.

Aleena is so cute! She's growing up!

Thanks.
You should google baby lead weaning!
That skips purees and rice cereal etc.

cheese - have a read of https://www.babyledweaning.com/

I intend to do BLW too :)

thanks Gertrude and Naima, I actually bought the book! DH thinks I'm crazy for thinking about BLW mostly because it's different. My concern about doing BLW is day care. I brought it up one day and the assistant teacher gave me the strangest look. I don't really want to be "that" mom. We're getting a new head teacher in September so I might talk with her about BLW and cloth diapers, feel her out, see what she thinks.

Hope everyones doing ok, i've finally caught up after being away for 3 weeks.

We had a lovely holiday and George did amazingly in the hot weather. He lived in a nappy in the day and a vest or romper at night. His sleep pattern didn't change to much, had a few bad nights but quite a few good nights. The plane journey wasn't to bad but thats probably because it was only a 2.5 hr flight. He loves going swimming so i'm going to start taking him every week.

Sorry for those who have received sad news. :hugs:

I've decided to join weight watchers as i didn't feel completely comfortable on holiday and i want my size 12's to fit instead of being tight. I have never followed a diet in my life :(

All the baby photo's are so adorable, we really do have gorgeous babies.

Cheese- the first food I ever gave Rosie was a chunk of apple. I peeled it and made it baby friendly sized and just handed it to her. She was so happy sucking and chewing on it. I was at a potluck a few days later and there were some fresh snap peas so I handed her one of those. Again she was so happy to pi it in her mouth. She reaches for my food all the time. I have been more I ferreted in blw but DH wants the purees. I know her food right now is for playtime and don't expect her to get much down but she freaking lives food. I gave her some prloaded spoons f green beans and I was amazed that she got it in her mouth with ease. She likes picking up her bowl and shoving her face in it too. She gave me tons of signs that she was ready for food and I like to keep stuff on hand to let her chew on especially while I'm eating.

Super cute Lilly. Rosie has also been getting so much betterr sitting the last couple of days. All of a sudden I can let go or not use my Boppy and she can sit for a minute or two. So amazing watching them learn and do new things.

Crazy, I'm doing weight watchers. Second weigh in tomorrow. I've found it easy to follow but I get a load of points due to BFing. I've got a lot to lose though!

I did quite well on weight watchers until I couldn't afford the meetings. After that I thought I'd do it myself but working out the points just got boring so now I'm just calorie counting (using myfitnesspal) and weighing myself at home. My bmi has gone down from 41 to 36... And it needs to be 30 before my doc will let me change my bcp.

Anyone trying sippy cups?
Toby loves to hold his bottle himself so I was thinking of getting a sippy cup for his water. Opinions?
Not sure whether to go for free-flow or non-spill...

Cottles - Have you heard of doidy cups? They help baby learn to sip instead of suck and are easier for them to use because they're slanted. Just ordered one for when we wean, could be messy but nevermind!

Just googled it... my friend has one of those and loves it! I might go for one of those.. thanks x

I use a sippy cup for ollie every so often with baby juice in it.
He loves holding it himself but it usually goes in his eye before his mouth... must add extra taste or something, idk haha.
Hes not very good at getting the flow of the juice right though so ends up swallowing too much at once and coughing but hes getting the hang of it slowly but surely! :)

I just bought some parts to turn Isis' bottles into a no-spill sippy cup. I haven't given her anything in it yet but will soon. I was just worried about it being a faster flow and her getting used to getting her milk faster. I had read the BF babies should be kept on newborn nipples the entire time so they're less likely to get frustrated at the slow flow of the breast. I also have a doidy cup for her. I tried it with her when she was just over 3 months and she lapped the milk like a dog. It was so cute to see! I'll have to pull that out again.

Last night I had Isis on my lap during dinner and she grabbed my plate and held it the entire time I was eating. She just stared at my food and watched me eat. Next time we have something appropriate for her to try (green beans, asparagus, etc) I'll let her play with it.

I had a rough time getting Isis down last night and ended up letting her sleep on her tummy. It freaked me out but she can roll onto her tummy so it can't be that dangerous.

Today is my last day of pumping for over a week! I'm leaving my big pump at home! I'm taking a hand pump in case I need to relieve pressure but I'm free for 12 days!!

Oh those of you cloth diapering in the US, babysteals has some AIO CD's for 14.99 plus shipping until 10am central time. I bought 2...

Ollie had a bad tummy I think.

He had an explosive poo before. It was EVERYWHERE :|
His balls where just covered in green... hulk balls.
Eugh.
So bad that we had to open all the windows to get rid of the smell and put him back in the bath. And wash all his clothes straight away because he covered them in it.
I seriously thought I was going to vomit on my son haha.
