April Mummies 2011

Huga Danielle xxx

Emmys, i know exactly what you are going through, this time last year MIL was diagnosed with liver lung and bowel cancer, now she followwing chemo, radiotherapy, and 4 operations she is just a few months away from being cancer free, just 2 more ops to go (fingers crossed). she is a truly amazing lady and has stayed so positive the whole way through never believing it was terminal and it seems she is proving them all wrong! If you need to chat PM me, thinking of you xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Gem sounds very reassuring that you are not going back til next week, they would have kept you in if there was anything urgent, fingers crossed xx

George also is demand fed so not sure how many feeds a day he has but he takes between 3 and 6 oz each time, he has been useless at gaining weight but that is because he is so sick all the time!

Operation yummy mummy continues, I went spinning today and tuesday and am going again sunday so hopefully will have a good loss on monday, I have been very good with the diet all week too and am enjoying lots of fresh fruit which I dont normally eat.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Sorry to hear things have been stressful danielle :hugs:

I missed one of my anti-depressants the day before yesterday. I spent all of yesterday going nuts. My mood swings were unbearable. One second, I was hyper/ditsy (which isn't like me anyway) and then I'd spend 2-3 hours feeling AWFUL. Just numb then sad then... I don't even know. I just wanted to curl up into a corner and stop existing. It was awful.
I took two pills yesterday... one in the morning when I realised I'd forgotten it, and one at my usual time... and I'm feeling a lot better today but it's really made me notice the difference the medication has made and I now know I'm definitely not ready to come off it yet.

Oh Emmy's I'm sending lots of positive thoughts to your Mum. I hope it's good news at the scan xxx :hugs:

oh and in growing news - pickle has jumped to the 50th centile for both her weight and her height :) I may not be able to accept I couldn't BF but she doesn't seem to care :D She's thriving!

That's great news Gertrude, sounds like little one is thriving!!!

Gem, glad to hear you're feeling better.

Can't wait to see pics of the new do MissFox!

I slept almost all afternoon. Quite a bit of it with Isis. I love cuddling with my little girl. I'm pumping to try to make up for not pumping this morning. I'm short 3 oz. I didn't have time between my physical therapy appt and the funeral.

Gertrude, sounds like pickle is growing wonderfully! That's all that matters in the end. I didn't even know I was mostly FF until I asked recently.

Cottleston, I'm glad the antidepressants work! Sounds like they're helping a lot.

Gem, it's crazy the things you do when on some of those medications! My FIL has some good stories from his colonoscopy.

Cottles - Hope youre feeling better now x

Gertrude - Sounds like Pickle is doing fantastically! :D

Cheese - Cuddles with LOs are the best :) <3
and it sure is crazy haha! Worst part is you dont remember much from it! Quite scary really!

Aww one of my friends has given birth to a beautiful baby girl this week.
She didnt know she was pregnant up till 34 weeks and then had her at 37 weeks! So bizzare! Shes made up though and the baby is beautiful! :)

I took a video of Oliver having his porridge this morning but need to figure out how to upload it! Sounded like he was making "mmm" noises haha so cute :) Ill try and get it uploaded!

Edit:
Heres the link to the video :)

I'd imbed it but dont know how xD

:hugs: Emmy's.

Hope the funeral went as well as it possibly could Cheese.

Glad you're feeling better Gem. Hope they get to the bottom of what's wrong & sort you out!

Well, as you can see from my siggy, I went to weight watchers yesterday. It was half a stone worse than I'd prepared myself more. Eek! I clearly took the eating for two thing a bit too literally! So I'm seriously back on it now! But I get so many points with BFing that I'll be amazed if I ever lose anything! But I've been out 3 times this week on my walk/run schedule. Hopefully be back to 10k by Xmas!

Rex giggled today for the first time! So cute! He's always just made little screeching noises when he's really loving something but this was a full on giggle. He's wanting to stand all the bloody time though! He whinges whenever he's laid down now. So tiring! Thank goodness for the jumperoo! Ordered some baby rice online today so just need to get his first few purees done & in the freezer & we'll be ready to have a go at weaning. Got his highchair, spoons & bowls already.

gem, ollie sure is enjoying that food! so cute :)

cheese, :hugs:

sazzle, tell me about weight :(, i didn't gain much in pregnancy and got back down to pre-preg weight v v quickly, BUT was heavy before got pregnant and now seem to be gaining even more. I'm so tired most of the time i find myself reaching for foods i shouldn't :dohh:, must do something about it! xx

Get sick. Thatll help you lose weight.
Joking, seriously dont do that.
Ive lost too much weight from being ill and have been accused of being anorexic and all sorts so ladies, if you have weight to lose then please give it to me! :p
2 birds, 1 stone and all that.

I need to lose about 30 lbs total. I'm about 20 lbs from pre-pregnancy. If I could get my hip fixed I'm sure I would lose at least the 20lbs pretty quickly. I tend to lose more weight when exercising than modifying my diet. My body is super efficient at converting my food to fat. I'm also worried about dieting too much while BF'ing and I tend to be an all or nothing kind of person. I'm trying to be very careful about what I eat and how much but I seem to be at a standstill.
I walked down to the mailbox with Isis last night which is a mile round trip with a big hill. My hip felt fine but it made it clear that I need a new baby carrier. She was really heavy in her stretchy wrap. We're going to the big city (Des Moines) to try out the ergo carrier tomorrow. Its about an 80 minute drive but I really want to try one before I buy one. After I have the new carrier I'm going to try to add another mile to my walk.

I really want a giggling baby! She squeals but doesn't laugh. I've even been trying to laugh more around her to try to get her to laugh. She's trying so hard to roll onto her belly but can't quite figure out what to do with that arm! she's also trying to crawl, trying to pull her legs under her. One of the teachers at her school said she's at almost the same stage as her son who walked at 8 months! :dohh: I'm happy my baby is advanced but I really don't want an early walker. That would mean I have less time with her unable to get into things!

Gem, I can't believe she didn't know she was pregnant! How crazy to only know for 3 weeks that you're pregnant!

Sazzle, I'll have to run vicariously through you! I really wanted to run a half-marathon in October but that's not going to happen.

Gem Ollie is just adorable!!! I can't wait to see what Lizzie thinks of food when she tries her first bite!

Lizzie hasn't laughed out loud yet, just little squeals, can't wait to hear her really laugh!

We have an Ergo Sport and it works really nice and seems pretty easy on the back. I don't use it too much but when I do it's nice and LO seems to like it most of the time. She fusses for a few when I first put her in but if I start walking right away she settles down and has fallen asleep in there a few times too. I've even managed to nurse her in it but you need to do a bit of prep work and wear certain clothing to make it work.

Gave Lizzie a bath and noticed her belly button smelled a bit off and had some dead skin cells in it. Put a q tip with alcohol and cleaned as much as I felt comfortable doing but will ask ped about it at her 4 mo appt in a week.

Still having lots of problems with her waking at night. She went down at 11:30 last night, woke at 3 then again at 5 and 7. So tired of this and getting really frustrated with her. Keep holding out hope that it's a growth spurt but it just keeps dragging on. I think the problem is she used to sleep just fine and now this big change.

Tried out my Flip diapers last night and so far so good. Need to use them a bit more and catch a number 2 to really see how much I like them but going well for now.

Must go get baby from bouncer, she's not having a good time in there...

I've found that the Flip contains the poo pretty good but then you can't reuse the cover. I probably like pockets or AIO's with a pocket better because it can get hard to a flip on a squirmy baby and Isis is starting to squirm a lot during diaper changes. I keep hoping she starts pooing less (like once a day) so we can use flips more though because it's less laundry.

If it were up to DH we would just buy the Ergo performance online but I'm not sure it has enough padding. He's worried the original is too warm. especially since we vacation in warm places too. We'll probably end up with the performance but by going to Des Moines we also get to go to Trader Joes and the apple store plus I get to look at cloth diapers too.

Isis still wakes a couple times a night too but I think it's getting better. Does Lizzie nurse back to sleep when she wakes? for a while I was trying to get Isis to eat longer at each waking hoping it buy more time (like both breasts instead of one). I'm not sure it worked but like when she was a newborn, one night she dropped a feed. That's where we're at. sleeping 8:30-6:30 waking at 2, 4, 6ish. Last night she added a feed at 3. I keep hoping that at 6 months maybe she'll drop another feed. I'll just keep hoping because there really isn't an alternative that will make sure she sleeps more. I just had a coworker tell me how her son didn't sleep any better after starting solids early.

Gem, I can't wait to watch that video when I get home so I can listen to the sound!

Rosie woke up 6 times last night. We stayed at MILs and there is normally a pack and play there so I didn't bring ours but low and behold SIL went and took it because she needed it (or something... seriously she doesn't have her own?! MIL bought that so there was always one at her house! FML) and we are staying there again tonight which means Rosie is sleeping in bed with me which means SHE WOKE UP 6 TIMES LAST NIGHT! Granted I worked WAY too long yesterday (12 hours) so when I brought her to bed she was all over me but I was really hoping for a little sleep after the long day.

Rosie got her first shots ever today. I finally got in with a Dr who sat down and explained them all to me and gave me pros and cons and told me which vaccines she was likely to need at such a young age. Makes me feel a lot better. She got 2 shots and cried so hard. I felt so bad. She is up to 14lb5oz (between 50-75%) 24.5 in (50%) and her head is still 75% lol.
My head hurts.

pickle laughs :) but only at other children :D :dohh:

so, this 4 month sleep regression thing sucks doesn't it :(

right, if some of you fancy meeting shall we choose a date? it would be ace to see some of you! Shall we say September? Give us chance to save etc? WHat about Saturday 24th?

I cant do Saturdays :-( Stu has to work hes got the 1st week in October off though? I need him to take me lolxx

you know I thought I'd suggest a saturday because of work - then remembered we're not at work atm are we

jesus fucking baby brain is getting out of control!

I'm free all that first week of Oct :) afternoons better as the groups I go to are in the mornings x

Thought I might start posting again in here if that's alright , have been mostly hanging around the breastfeeding forum as we've been having so many problems but we've finally got there now.

LO is in cloth nappies too, I use Baba+Boo pocket BTP, which seem to be quite like ebay cheapies I think, I absolutely love the patterns she stocks and am having to stop myself buying more than I need! Have found them really good so far but they've recently started to leak a little, think it's because LO is weeing more now, am going to try using bamboo inserts and see if that solves it.

She has been going to bed at around 10/11 with two feeds during the night and getting up around 7.30am. Tonight is the first night we put her down at 7.30pm and although she's woken up once it's still going really well, am so pleased! Absolutely no chance of getting her into her own cot still but we're all happy with co-sleeping at the moment.

I'm also really into baby wearing, mainly because LO still isn't keen on being put down for any length of time and has now decided she doesn't like the buggy! Am ordering myself a custom made mei tai from a lady in Poland, they've got such good reviews and are beautiful so am really excited.

Hugs to all who need them, have been keeping up with you all, just not posting often :flower:

Id love to meet up.
Not sure on when I can do though because still waiting to hear about getting a place in college :/
Up untill I get a yes though then I can do whenever really :)
