April Mummies 2011

Thanks Lilly, I think you're right about the not before 6 months. It's so true all the development that's happening, I can honestly see a change in her every day, she seems to always be learning something new or reacting differently to her toys, people, etc. Just amazing!

Nearly 1 am and she's still sleeping, really really hope she gets a good sleep tonight. I'm totally fine with the once nightly wake for a feed, but 2 or 3, especially on the days I work, is making me sleep walk through my days ;)

A lot of the time I have to pat Rosie's bumm to get her to go to sleep. Its not horrible and works really well. Sometimes that doesn't work and I end up picking her up and cuddling her but then its almost right back to laying in her crib and patting her bumm. She usually falls asleep with that.

I rock Aleena to sleep.
Shes done with the sleep regression I think.
She was up every hour for a while there, now she goes to bed around 11-1 and wakes up every 3 or so hours. The occasional is 5+ hours.

Think Ive missed this sleep regression thing... ollie LOVES sleep!
I keep him very active in the day though so he sleeps better at night.

Im proud today!
He sat up totally unsupported for about 5 mins this morning!

Hes wide awake this morning which is odd because usually he has a bottle about 8 or 9 then goes back asleep till 11 or 12! Ah well saves me having to wait for him to get up for the day before I do anything haha!

Ah Go Ollie!!!

Bernina - it could also be over tiredness. If I miss the slot where Amelia first yawns, or even a bit before that, she becomes overtired and rather than taking 10 mins to go off it can be hours of crying and being silly over it. Sounds like she's not napping much in the day, maybe trying to increase the naps? Hope something clicks soon and she goes longer, but in all honesty, I think the baby does when they are ready!

A friend of mine, her babies always woke up and at the age of 28 and 13 months, they both wake at least once. Whereas my 2 are the opposite.

Well I have a day with just Amelia and I! oh has taken Jake swimming, then to a fire station open day. Then tonight I'm taking mum to the cinema.

We've been giving LO a bottle of ebm at night for awhile now and it's never helped her sleep any better unfortunately, just do it so daddy can feed her and I get a bit of a break. Agree with JakesMummy about the over tiredness, LO is rubbish at sleeping during the day but when she does manage a couple of naps she seems to sleep better at night.

Well done Ollie! Hoping LO does that soon, think she'll be happier as she'll be able to nose around more.

Eurgh. Think I've got a blocked duct. It bloody hurts! And my boob is red in one area. Thought we'd be past all this now. But no! I really hope it doesn't turn into mastitis. I can't face that again. Been massaging & placing hot flannel on my boob all day but it doesn't seem to be helping.

Sorry to hear that SazzleR, hope you're able to relieve it with massage and hot compresses before it turns into anything else. Does taking ibuprofen (motrin, advil) or another anti-inflammatory do anything to help?

Oh yeah I started a Tumblr :)
Link is in my sig!
(Its like a blog type thing.)
Anyone else have one?

Not sure if you're pumping much sazzle but I was starting to get one (ouch) so I just had Rosie eat off that side for An extra feed and favored the side for a couple days. I'd pump the not blocked side and feed her from it here and there too. Good luck.

I had a blocked duct on Wednesday and was told to have a hot bath, submerge the breast with the blockage and run a wide toothed comb over the affected area. I then fed LO on that side most of the evening and massaged while she was feeding. The comb thing sounded weird to me but it seemed to worked! x

If it's red though it already sounds on the verge of mastitis? I think I caught it early soda the red sore and hot patch and had antibiotics. Hope it clears up soon for you! I have these gel pads which you can freeze or heat/ they're great.

Ugh I've got one very attached baby today..growth spurt probably but giving me arm ache carrying her. Too hot for a wrap and can't be arsed with the screaming. , so hip carrying it is. I shall resemble popeye soon!

Thanks for all the advice guys. I've been taking paracetamol & have laid with a hot water bottle on it cos the flannel was getting too messy! I've been trying to start with the affected side all day, thanks MissFox. I might try the comb Loopy, thanks! Our bath isn't deep enough for me to get my boobs in!!!

When I had mastitis when Rex was 5 weeks old I felt all fluey. But I don't feel like that now. Can you get mastitis without feeling ill?

I'm just doing the bedtime feed now & it killed when he latched on & when let down came so could the pain be it unblocking? Does that hurt? Or does it just means it's getting worse? Ow!

Not sure but I would definitely keep Rex feeding from that side more. I think that you could have Mastitis and just be in the beginning. If it doesn't ease in a day or two of favoring that side I would have it checked out.

Never heard of Tumblr but ill have a look when i have more time.
Had my hair cut yesterday, bit of a mistake. Told the hairdresser to do something a bit more stylish but forgot to say not that short i cant tie it back. Sooo, she done me a bob. Now i have to blow dry and straighten it every morning which takes ages :-S
