I have my next ( 3rd) appt with consultant on 3rd June, been under them for a year now.

I have had an internal scan - clear,
basic blood test - "normal",
day 21 ( although for me 28 ) bloods - "normal",
hubby has had SA - "normal" had a second which we get results for on 22nd May -
I had an HSG this cycle - clear.

What should I be asking to happen at this stage?
What tests can I say, well you didnt do this test, I want it! ?
What treatment should I be saying I want doing?

I don't want to be fobbed off and sent away again for another 6 months

Sorry hun no advice here but hopefully someone who can help you will see the thread

 Good luck with your appointment

Thanks Vickie :)

Anyone??

Appointment been changed to 6th June now - still needing some input on this please ladies!

NO, don't let them tell you to wait another 6 mths. I don't really have advice of what to ask for next. But, what do you want? Do you want more tests, or do you want an "action plan"? IUI, IVF...are you thinking of any of these routes? If you are or have considered any of these, I would ask now...because they take more tests, and TIME... Good luck and keep us updated.

What about testing for endometriosis? Laparoscopy I think it is to be sure.

Is there anything about either of you (other than you are not PG) that makes you think there could be a problem that hasn't been spotted? For instance, do you have irregular cycles or anything like that? How old are both of you? etc. etc. I'd take a long hard look at yourselves and see if there is anything you should raise with your consultant.

Have you tried charting to check you ovulate each month?

I had a day 5 (I think?) blood test to check the pituitary gland in the brain was working properly.

I'd be wary if they try to prescribe Clomid. It seems to me that if they can't find anything they give you 6 months of that just to see. I'd question hard if that is their proposal to see why exactly they think you need it.

I would imagine that if the end result is unexplained IF that they may suggest IUI at first. I wouldn't have thought IVF would be a first suggestion. Ask about waiting times on the NHS, cost to go private, how many goes you get on the NHS, etc.

Hope that is helpful and not too brutal. :hugs: Good luck with it all and let us know how you get on with your appointment.

thank you for both your replies

I am 35 this month, hubby is 36, two children already from me, no probs, both unplanned lol! He has no children. We have been trying as you can see from ticker since March 06.

I was on Depo for two shots before we TTC, and they seemt to in one breath say oh depo is fab, it won't be any problem with that ( yeah right cos we all know what a wonderful drug it is hmmmm and how hardly anyone has fertility probs after don't we??!!) then in next breath say well it is just that coming out of your system :(

What you have asked above is really what I am asking I suppose, Do we now demand they sort out an "action plan" of treatments? Can we? I understand we would have to pay as I have children

I am ovulating yes, I have charted, temped etc so no reason why clomid would be an option I think? Regular cycles, no endo symptoms or PCOS symptoms either ( well I do get a bit hairy around the chin and had extra weight, but hormones were ok ) I was overweight when we started and over the last yr have lost 3 stone and still am losing weight too -

I don't know if there any other tests I should have had?

I'd say over 2 years is an awfully long time for it to be coming out of your system so I wouldn't accept that if you are given that reasoning.

Take your ovulation charts with you as back up in case they try to prescribe Clomid.

I found this page which may be helpful:

Congratulations on your weight loss BTW. That's fantastic! What's your BMI like? Is there likely to be any problems there?

As for demanding things.... hell yeah! If you are paying you are the customer. Question and double question everything!

we would have to pay if it got to IVF etc stage I think yes as I already have children. I'm going to make a list of all the investiagtions that are done and take it with me and ask why I haven't had xyz done, etc

My consultant always seems in a rish, last time we were in and out in less than 4 mins - he doesn't volunteer much info, just says oh everythings normal etc, but I want details this time, like printouts of tests doen etc.

bmi, I dunno what it is actually, I'll go and look it up!... just on 30 now :D :happydance:

Good luck. Let us know how you get on :hugs:
