Right I'm fed up and I'm really gonna have to do something about this now!

Aptamil is clearly not agreeing with poor Aiden :(

He is constantly windy. No amount of patting his back or rubbing his belly seems to resolve this.

I've tried infacol, Dentinox...no change :nope:

He's constantly straining...he's even doing it in his sleep!

And he's NEVER satisfied, I'm feeding him every hour and a half.

Has anyone else had these problems with Aptamil? I will speak to my health visitor first but it doesn't cause any harm to swap to a different brand does it?

My first son had an issue with SMA Gold. It really constipated him and he was constantly bringing it all back up again.

I changed him to Aptimal and it didn't do him any harm. I can't remember if I changed him gradually or did it all in one go now (my memory is rubbish:dohh:). I'm sure someone else will know though :)

We had problems with Aptimel too - we switched to Hipp organic and he's been fine on it ever since.

If you don't think he's happy with it switch, but change to one and stick to it for a few week, don't swap between a couple of brands because you'll make his little belly poorly:)

Good luck hun hope you find something better for him.

Def speak to your HV aswell x

Could it be the bottles? Which type are you using? We've always used Avent, but I've heard others say that Dr Browns bottles are good for these sorts of problems. Good luck :)

I was thinking this too..
Is he managing to do dirty nappies? If so and it's just gas/trapped wind that's the problem then it might not be the milk but the bottles/teats.

I'm using tommee tippee closer to nature bottles which I have to say are CRAP. X

Our LO had problems with wind when we were using TT CTN bottles. We switched to Dr Browns, and they've been an absolute godsend. Also got a product my HV recommended called Windy Pops, which has been wonderful for dealing with her bottom-end wind.

We had her on Aptamil when I stopped BF-ing, she seemed fine for a while, then started getting very constipated. Tried HiPP but HATED it - no matter how we made it up, it left dregs in the bottle that looked like cottage cheese, it was revolting. We're now using C&G, and she's poo'd 4 days out of 5 this week. Talk to your HV, but it may be worth trying a different formula just to see.

Good luck :)

changing milk is totally ok if you think it could be that, its no different to choosing kingmill bread over hovis x

We use Aptamil Comfort if its the wind thats the problem? Our LO really struggled with bringing his wind up but with this, whatever wind he does have tends to come up a hell of a lot easier?

Hi hun, I had the same issues with Brady at about the same age although he was on SMA with TT bottles. I changed to Dr Browns bottles first which made massive difference although he was still having some windy issues, the HV told me to persevere with Infacol and that it takes 2 weeks to work and give it with every feed, she said i could try changing milk as well which I did to Apatmil Comfort to see if it would resolve how much he was being sick. It didn't make any difference so I changed
back to SMA and stopped giving him Infacol.

Over this past week he has got so much better, he's bringing up the wind he does have and not being so sick which has meant he's more satisfied on about 4-5 oz instead of 6oz and he's even started going 6 hours between feeds at night.

Changing their milk does mess their system up a bit so male sure you're prepared to deal with him being grumpy and the windy/sicky issue might get worse temporarily, I had some awful nappies from Brady when we swapped.

Kaysie Blossom had this issue with Aptimal, the HV said it had to be the bottles cos she hadnt heard of this with Aptimal before and she recommends them if someone is going to formula feed, so we changed her bottles a few times nothing helped, changed to SMA and she was fine.

This is my sons problem word for word!! We have him on Easy Digest Aptimal and he is exactly like your son. We're changing his formula today as he is just in so much pain - considering HiPP or Cow and Gate but doing a bit or research first.

Our poor boys!!

ive got the TT anti colic bottles and i think they great but my LO is great at bringing her wind up. Ultimately its just bad luck if ur LO is not good at bringing up wind. Aptimel is thin and doesnt sustain baby for long. SMA i found makes them constipated but ive gave my 2nd and 3rd babies cow and gate and its been great.

Hi he sounds just like Archie was at that stage he was on sma gold at the time but i sometimes think its the chopping and changing formulas that made him worse, at the end of the day i kinda figured his digestive system is still adjusting to anything going in it let alone dealing with different milks all the time so i gave up that one and had the same problems with aptamil to but i just pesereved this time. I changed my bottles to dr browns bottles, they are expensive but they work and i put colief in his bottles, took about 2 weeks for the change but oh my it did work! Also, i know everyone advises against it but archie never settled on his back, slept for like 20 mins then woke up screaming but on his belly he stayed zonked for hours prob cause he was so windy it was nice plus he sicked up bits a lot so we worried about him choking. I wouldnt put him on his belly at night until he could lift his head tho (about 1 month) an ever since then his a changed baby, no wind, sleeps for hours and cause his been on his belly for a while he can lift very high and is really strong so there is a gew tips from me :-) xx
