Are We Truly Insane???

Hey all.

Ok so here's the deal. My OH and I have been making plans on when to TTC and all that which is awesome! Then we got to talking about weddings and getting engaged. I want a long engagement but he OH doesn't. So we agreed to actively plan the wedding and set the date and everything. The only thing with this is we aren't going to get engaged until about 6 months before the wedding.

Are we completely insane to plan the whole thing out before we are even engaged???

Sounds a bit fabricated rather than being about the real reason.

If you have agreed to get married and planning your wedding then you are engaged already.

I dont understand why your not engaged if your planning a wedding iyswim. Whats stopping you getting enagaged now?? If your prepared to get married... then where's the issue?? Sorry if i sounds harsh... dont mean too... just dont understand

Well my OH doesn't have the money as of yet saved up for the ring lol.

AHhh I see.... couldnt you get a really cheap one.... to be replaced when you can afford it??

Some people want a formal engagement, so waiting for the actual asking/ring etc is understandable. My OH and I have been engaged for oh wow... ummm... 4 years now and we talked about our wedding before getting engaged. I think it's more of a "you know you are going to end up getting married" kind of thing. Heck it could be reversed like us hehe, engaged for 4 years with no real desire or plans to get married :wink:

Personally, I would concider yourself engaged, just not "formally" yet, so no I don't think you're crazy at all!

yeah im kinda in this situation.
me and OH have been making solid plans eg speaking to church/the manager of place we're holding the reception, going to wedding fairs etc and we have a set date and everything but i still dont really class myself as "engaged" just getting married next year!lol.

we cant afford the ring yet either. should have it by early next year.

Im not too fussed to be honest, everyone knows we're getting married, we're always talking about it/stressing with family overs whats happening..bit sick of it really.

I cringe at long engagements tbh but each to their own, its just a bit high school to me
