Just wondering if anyone is planning on using this or has used it before to help afterwards with healing, i know its meant to be a big help and i think i remember reading you should start taking them from beginning of labour so i want to be prepared but cant for the life of me find the info i originally read about it! Thanks :) x

Arnica really works for me - i know this is abit far fetched from labour- but i took it when i got my tongue pierced and it didnt swell up at all. Healed really quickly and worked a treat! im going to use it for childbirth! x

Ahh just found this, i confess to not trying hard enough evidently! This is taken from an online site to buy 'nelsons' brand who i know do baby teething powder and the bach rescue rememdy..

''Arnica 30c

Renound homoeopathatic product thought to aid healing post birth.

One for the labour bag. Stronger 30c concentration due to nature of bruising, tears and swelling after childbirth.

Also suitable to aid healing after a caesarian section.

Recommended Dosage -Adults:

2 pillules every 2 hours for the first 6 doses, then 4 times daily for up to 5 days or until symptoms improve. If symptoms worsen or persist consult a doctor.
Pillules to be sucked or chewed and to be taken between meals''

Not sure if it'll be the most paramount thing on my mind inbetween contractions but i think the sooner you start the better, worth a go! x

ive bought some too  i think i read something about taking it every 2 hours through labour and after? idk

I'll have a scout through google and see if i can find something

i found this......

“In June I gave birth to my son. During labor I took Arnica 30X every three hours or so. After I had him I had so much energy. The bleeding was minimal, and I began to clean our newly purchased home the next day. I have never had such a quick recovery time as I did with him – my third child. I felt great!!! - Maria G. ”

When to take Arnica?

Anytime you feel a ‘bruised soreness’ during pregnancy or anytime you fall or injure yourself, it is fine to take Arnica, but during and after labor, you can really find the benefits. Here are some professional insights:
• Rosemary Tayler. In her book, Homeopathy for Pregnancy & Childbirth, Rosemary Tayler suggests the mother take a dose of Arnica 200C when the water breaks, “for fatigue during the last stages of labor and for the prevention of bruising during birth. It also minimizes cervical swelling…. lessens the possibility of hemorrhage. The remedy may be repeated in liquid doses if bleeding is excessive.” For caesarians she suggests Arnica 200C, “it will minimize shock, trauma, pain, bruising, infection and hemorrhage.”
Then again after childbirth to, “help the uterus contract smoothly and quickly, to prevent infection, to minimize pain after birth and to improve muscle control.”
For the newborn, she recommends: “arnica is well indicated for a newborn who has been bruised during a normal birth or a forceps delivery. … One crushed sugar pill of Arnica 30C on the baby’s tongue will restore calmeness and reduce pain, bruising, stress and trauma.”

I can't wait to use it! sounds like it really works

I think i'll take it as previous poster wrote. every 2 hours during labour and 4 times a day after?

Haha I'd need a miracle not a few tablets to be like 'Maria g', I think she was paid to say that lol

Does anyone know how to take this if having a csection? Also, do the pillules taste awful? lol :D

Thanks for posting this, you reminded me to get some! My midwife recommended it, said it is excellent. I found Nelsons arnica 30c on ebay at a good price, saves me having to remember to get it when I'm out! :)

i read about this and forgot about it, i saw these pills in a shop today and thought where do i no that name from lol

i might give it ago!
after i had my first i would have atleast one bath a day using tea tree oil and thats great with healing too, especialy if u have stitches

I had AWFUL bruising after giving birth. Not that I looked at it myself but the midwives who came to see us after we got home from hospital were horrified "Ooooh you can see just where he was pressing.... Have you had a look in the mirror at this?" Erm, nope!

Anyway, I took arnica pillules and I found they didn't taste at all. They must have worked though cos the bruising and swelling seemed to go down pretty quick. I had forceps delivery and big episiotomy with quite a lot of stitches afterwards too so I def think the tabs helped with that (along with the extra strong painkillers) but I will DEF get them again for this labour. I just hope I don't need them so much this time round!

Couldn't advice on c sec but I've just tried one for you and was curious too, they are tiny and just taste sweet of sugar, hard to believe actually they could do anything like that but we'll see!

I will be taking Arnica after birth or c-section not before. I've used arnica for years anyway but as it promotes thinning the blood to help the bruising come out and heal quicker I will NOT use it before the birth or c-section. This was adviced by our homeopathic vet (as it's a natural thing you use the same for animals as for humans).

I have never heard of this being good after a birth but I used it after I had cosmetic surgery on my nose and it really helped with the bruising to my eyes, also after my dh had his vasectomy reversed he used it and again it made bruising clear alot quicker,,,
great thread I'll be getting some tomorrow :hugs:

i know this is a old thread but did anyone get told to use arnica as a pessary rather than to take them by mouth - i got some today and not sure what to do

xxx

Mine were to take orally and they did a fab job.

I used them after my first c section and have them in my bag for this time too. As far as I remember the midwife told to take a few 4 times a day which I did and between those and witch Hazel gel I healed v v quickly. They are tiny smaller than sweeteners for your coffee!

I have a small bottle of tablets to take orally which I plan to do from the start of labour and to help the healing process. X
