I feel a bit upset after a phonecall with ASDA's customer services this morning as they have implied that I am some sort of security risk to them and cancelled my order!

Yesterday I placed my very first online order with ASDA via mysupermarket.com and had a free delivery code which I also used. I had to register with the ASDA website as it was my first time using it and after a bit of searching for the checkout, finally processed my order for delivery to come this morning between 10-12. I didn't mind the time so chose one where they suggested a van would already be in my area. I had a confirmation email and that was that.

Then a couple of hours later I had another email saying my order had been cancelled. It said if i didn't cancel it, there were a number of reasons why it may have been cancelled, so I rang up the number they gave me and I spoke to the lady and she was perfectly nice but said she couldn't tell why it had been cancelled and as I had phoned up at 6pm on a Friday, the appropriate department was closed so advised me to ring back in the morning.

So I just rang them again and the lady told me that it was cancelled for 'security reasons' - I had in the meantime noticed my account online had been suspended and she told me this was why. I asked what kind of security reasons and she wouldn't tell me. So I asked if I should be concerned that my card details have been taken or my account has been hacked and she said no, it was a security risk to the company, not to me! So in the end I double-checked that they wouldn't be taking the money and then left it at that but now it's bugging me as to what they could possibly mean? Are they inferring that I am somehow a threat to their driver? I'm half tempted to call back up and find out but don't want to cause trouble. Has anyone had anything like this occur? I feel like a criminal! :(

xx

Very strange, no idea I'm afraid but didn't want to r&r! What did you order? Was it a massive order of chemicals and knives??!!

How very strange. Do they think your gonna use a carrot or banana to shoot the delivery driver?

Haha! :haha: No, just the standard food shop for the 2 of us - came to £50 something. The only thing I can think of is either they have had security issues in the area (maybe a driver was endangered?) or the previous tenants have caused issues and the address has been red-flagged. I do know the previous tenants got into all sorts of debt problems. But this is no good to me. :sulk: x

How odd!
The only thing I can think is, was there enough money in your account to cover it?
Or your credit rating maybe?
Cos I'm sure I've heard that Asda do a credit check on you before they process you order. Maybe something to do with that?

Oh its maybe cos of that, if you are address is blacklisted somewhere. How annoying though!! x

It's just so frustrating that they won't tell me the issue. I might fire off an email to their customer services department cos the girl just kept repeating herself when I was querying it over the phone.

Yeah she said they do some sort of check for first orders but I have a really good credit history (even if I do say so myself lol) - have over £2k in the account and have never missed a payment on anything. It's bloody annoying if the address is blacklisted = we've only been here for about 5 months, what else am I gonna find I can't do?!

My first though was a previous occupant of your home has threatened or been abusive to a driver. And they blacklisted the house.

I'd email them. I'm intrigued now, lol

I can assure you its nothing to do with credit rating or how much you have in the bank cos my sister has a really poor credit score and she also doesnt have much money and always orders from Asda.

I would call them back, could it be the road you live in? Has there been trouble? Has your address previously had trouble? Before you lived there? recently? They take all that into account. They have to have a valid reason and they should also tell you why.

Yeah I didn't think it would be my credit rating. I've sent them an email now so had better not phone back up for fear of being accused of harrassment! :haha: I don't know if anything may have happened before I lived here except that the previous tenants built up lots of debt. The area itself though is quite nice, we're in townhouses down on the waterfront area so it's not full of scally's or anything. Although the town as a whole isn't great, there are some horrible areas but I wouldn't say we live in one of them.

The email was just via one of those feedback form things so god knows if it will even get picked up. :dohh:

I'd phone them up if the email was sent through a feedback form. They should at least give you a reason. Silly Asda.

Try Tesco, I prefer them anyway!

The number keeps going through to a call centre in India and the girls I'm speaking to just keep repeating that they can't share security issues with me ](*,) but I've had an automated reply now saying they respond to all emails in 2-3 days so we'll see what happens. Guess I'll have to do my shopping today now :dohh:

Typical. Just try and palm you off.

Enjoy a day at the supermarket.

i would be mad and definately try to get to the bottom of it

just for the record though, supermarkets dont do credit searches unless you are applying for a financial product with them

How strange. They should at least of given you a bloody reason!

Take your custom elsewhere :smug:

Im so curious now!

The couple who lived in our house before us have awful debt built up, we get there bills, collection agency letters even now a yr on since we moved in....
I was really worried we wouldnt be able to get just the standard amenities like phone connection, gas, electric etc cos the couple had been thru every company possible!

Im looking into it now, cos its a pain to live in a blacklisted property!

Let us know what the outcome is...
