I was just wondering what age you started to introduce for like baby rice and how often do you feed then as well as there milk? X:thumbup:

We started a few days shy of 6 months. Thomas has never had baby rice we went down the BLW route so he's had cut up versions of what we've had. I started with just a taste, built up to 1 meal then added in another meal when he was showing signs of wanting more. This took months as Thomas wasn't interested that much in food until 9 months old.

I introduced solid at 5.5m, at first just during lunch, they recommend you try new food during the day in case of allergy, then before bath, and then whenever I eat. I bf before naps, so his milk changes with nap time, not the introduction of solid.

6 months exactly with my youngest :) And his first food was toast fingers and banana xx

Earliest is 6 months before then baby can't digest it and it can actually cause damage to their go track.

It's actually recommended that meat or egg yolks be babies first food not rice . Rice has almost no nutrition and cause jumps in blood sugar. If you have to do cereal try oat or barley cereal

Pediatrician told me I could start puree and cereal at 4 months, but I waited until about 5 and a half months. I started with cereal and fruit at breakfast, but then she would refuse her next bottle so I stopped that and just gave her a vegi and fruit at dinner, and now do lunch and dinner. I've kept her bottles the same.

6 months with Sophie, and she had a banana. She only ate about 2 mouthfuls of food a day at first. She was on 2 small meals a day at 7 months, 3 small meals a day at 8-9 months. She has 3 meals a day and snacks now, plus four big sippy cups of milk.

Started giving cereal at 4 months, literally a spoonful or 2.

I started my LO off on food at 5 and a half months. I started him off with a bit of purée after his lunch time bottles then after a couple of weeks I started giving him a bit of mushed up banana after his morning bottle.

I always give food after his bottle because his milk is more important than food at the moment because of all the nutrients and vitamins.

I plan to give food when Scarlett meets the following :
- sits well enough unaided to eat
- is able to pick up food herself and put it in her mouth
- wants to do it!
So far she meets the last 2 but her sitting isn't quite there, I do give her little bits to play with and suck on (things like pear, apple, tomato). I don't believe the gut 'magically matures' the day they turn 6 months and prefer to look for signs she is ready as babies develop at different rates.
I won't be doing rice or puree, she'll be eating what we eat (we don't eat processed food or cook with salt)

We planned to wait until 26 weeks with my oldest but she stole food and ate it at 24 weeks so we started BLW then - I gave her lunch and dinner on the first day then straight onto three meals a day the next day. When she was eating to satiate hunger rather than just for fun I started offering snacks when I had them too.

My youngest started three meals a day at 26 weeks but probably had snacks earlier than her sister did as I just gave both kids food at the same time.

Neither child decreased milk consumption in favour of food before a year old, in fact it was more like 18 months for both of them I think. They've never had 'baby food' as I wouldn't give them something I wasn't prepared to eat and I believe it's healthier and more natural to give normal foods straight away.

That's ladies I think I may wait another month before I introduce anything, would you start with a bit of fruit after her lunch bottle? Xx

My son a week away from 6 months and I started giving him baby rice after his first bottle of the day, going to add purred fruit to it soon
