At what age will you start weaning?

With my first i weaned about 16 weeks as he had really bad reflux. With my 2nd he was fine, a right little milk monster so i held off til the reccommended 6 months, well it was honestly the worse thing i did. Ds1 id the best eater, eats anything i put in front of him, not fussy in the slightest, ds 2 is a completely different ball game, he is soooo fussy, will only eat blended food, burks on most things, will not eat finger food but has started to eat it from a spoon (he will pick up wotsis and eat them tho) i have to spoon feed him everything otherwise he wouldnt eat. He still wakes at night for a bottle too. If i had another baby i think i would wean early again, obviously not 16 weeks unless medically needed to but i wouldnt wait til 6 months again. Thats just my opinion tho, lots of people have weaned at 6 months with great success xx

I'd say its probably just his personality to be pickier, not when you started weaning him.

I started DS1 around 4 1/2 months (this was before I did more research on early weaning and decided to wait longer with DS2). He is the pickiest kid ever. Always has been from the start of weaning; would gag himself and throw up things he didn't like, gag on things that he didn't like the texture of....etc etc. Still very picky.

DS2 I waited until about 5 1/2 months, he eats everything pretty much. Rarely does he turn anything down, and will often finish his plate then want to snack off someone else's plate.

I don't attribute their pickiness or lack of pickiness to when weaning began, I really just think they were going to be that way no matter what.

At 17 weeks my ds was draining 6 8oz bottles a day, his bed time bottle was 9oz. I started him on a teeny bit of baby porridge at 17 weeks, literally a teaspoon at lunch time. It didn't make him sleep any better, but it did help with his windy time in the evening, about 5 and a bit months we added fruit purée and pieces of carrot, cucumber, just to suck on really to save the screaming when we ate! He was desperate to get our dinner. At 6 months he started reducing his milk intake massively, drinking maybe 2/3 oz every 4-5 hrs but miserable because he was starving. So we added a dinner, then a few weeks later a small lunch. Now he's on 3 solid meals, desert of fruit at lunch and yogurt at dinner and 3 8oz bottles a day. Pretty sure he's not far off dropping his mid day bottle thou X

6 months for both my boys. I did BLW so I wouldn't have to faff around with purees or worrying about what food to give. Just serve the same food we were eating.

LO started solids at 7.5 months and I plan on letting her decide when she doesn't want to be nursed any longer. It's free milk! = )

We weaned DD1 at 17 weeks. She was a terrible feeder, barely had any milk. Every bottle was a nightmare. She dropped from 92nd percentile to 50th for weight. I just got fed up worrying so started. First teaspoon and she was away and happy!

DD2 I started around 19 weeks I think? She could sit unaided, everything went in her mouth and she started showing a huge interest in food :haha: again first teaspoon and she was away. She loves her food.

We started just short of 6months, LO is a brilliant eater. I don't think when you wean has anything to do with how fussy a child is.

Started my son at 5.5 months on advice of the hv. He was fussy and we had a hard time weaning him from puréed food.

Not sure when I will start with DD. Probably around the same time but I'm going to do a mix of blw and tw this time. X
