Oh has just finished work and went to top up the gas meter but it's saying battery failed. I've googled and looks like we won't be getting any gas until the battery is changed. We've tried to phone a few numbers but all are saying the offices are now closed. Does this mean that we'll have to wait til the morning to phone and for someone to come out? I'm not gonna want to get out of bed :(

do they not have an emergency 24hr number? Thats a bit crap that it doesnt like give say a few weeks warning.

Sorry just realise I've posted this here, I thought I was in GC.

try these and tell them you have a young child:

If you have an emergency with your pay as you go meter, use the numbers below to contact us.
Electricity pay as you go emergency 0800 980 0419
(free call)
Gas pay as you go emergency 0800 980 0420
(free call)

Oh rang the emergency number and they said that's for explosions and leaks. I know, we've had no warning at all.

Tried that number hun and it's closed, just goes through to gas leaks and they said they can't help x

Think we're getting somewhere, oh is on the phone to them now :)

Well apparently gas is a luxury and so no one works after 5pm on a Sunday. Booked in for between 8 and 12 tomorrow tomorrow morning. Really wish we had an electric heater now :(

thats awful - our battery ran out on our gas meter and british gas came out within 1.5 hours to replace it an it was summer! (it happened after 7pm!)

our council on the other hand left us for 3 weeks without a boiler - no hot water or heating and we had a 16 month old at the time!!

That's shocking! The council broke our boiler when they were redoing our kitchen. They offered us electric heaters for the night and replaced it the next morning. Alex was six months old at the time.

tell me about it! filling up a bath with kettle water for 3 weeks was the worst!

i put in a formal complaint about it x
