I posted this name in the beautiful girl names thread but I'd like some input. We are only still TTC but I've fallen in love with this name and I am really trying to decide whether or not to present it to my OH. As a bit of background we are traditionalists when it comes to names--I don't like unique names or unique spellings as a general rule, and the same goes for made up names. We like Hebrew-origin names, so previously my top girl name choice was Abigail Grace.

However I am now in love with the name Avonlea, pronounced almost like heavenly without the h sound. Do you think the name is pretty? Is the pronunciation easy to figure out? And do you think it looks like a unique/made-up/totally out-there type of name? To me it sounds like an old English sort of name, but I could also see how someone might think it's made up "like Neveah" as my future mother-in-law would say... The name altogether would me Avonlea Rose Z_______n (two syllables).

I instinctively pronounced it the way you wanted it to be said, but I do personally think it looks 'made up like Nevaeh'. I'm not keen on it but I think it flows nicely with Rose.

Personally, I found it very difficult to pronounce and what I came up with is nothing like what you wanted it to be. I was pronouncing it A-von-lee-ah. Have you considered spelling it a different way? Evanley or something like that, which would be easier to pronounce correctly?

I like it now you have explained pronounciation but I did think it was A-von-lee? Rather than evanlea xx

I would pronounce it like the. River Avon, as in a-von-lee, rather than heavenly. It sounds a bit made up iykwim, but it's quite pretty all the same.
X

Im not keen tbh, i dont think it rolls off the tongue very easily. I love Rose though, and i think Abigail is very pretty x

Thank you guys for your input, other comments still welcome. I think I will present this name to my OH someday, i really don't think it's too outlandish and besides with all the unique spellings and names today I think she would not have too difficult of a time in school etc with having to spell out her name etc.

i too thought a-von

but i do kind of like it but worried that it would just sound like your not saying heavenly properly

but that is just my opinion if you really like it then go for it :flower:
