Hi girls!
A bit embarrassing, but as the title states, does anyone have any ideas for how to relieve constipation? The bloat I have is getting ridiculous, and nothing is helping. TMI, but I've had some gas, but can't properly go for about 5 days now....ugh, so uncomfortable!

I have been the same for 2 days. A coffee first thing usually helps he. I know we are not supposed to drink it but a small one in the morning really does help. Not the last 2 mornings though.

My friend recommended water with brown sugar, yuk!! Sounds disgusting though, I just can't bring myself to try it. And prune juice is meant to be really good? Again never tried it.

I take Konsyl fiber when I get bad. It was on my list of things from the dr that are ok.

I've found that a little bit of exercise, even just walking for a half an hour or so, really seems to help me more than anything else. Well, coffee does always help too:p

I've been pretty good bowel wise but I've had bad gas. I live in oz and we have tablets called de-gas, they have been a life saver!!! The pharmacist told me that fibre powders are good for one week but then after that can actually make you more blocked up. So she didn't recommend it. I hope you find something!! Ah the joys of pregnancy! Lol

My doctor told me that if I get constipated I need to drink more water and eat more fiber.

Walking and exercise does help as well.

My dr told me to take magnesium pills! And it works! When I remember to take one or two the night before I actually "go" the next morning. The amount of magnesium I take does not seem to affect how much I go.

I walk a mile and a half every other day and drink tons of water...I am either constipated or diarhea! Lol it's just something we deal with!!

I do feel better staying active and eating yogurt...I seem to get some reprieve from that!

Also looking for relief! My dr suggested magnesium/calcium supplements but I'm awful at taking them lol. I'm drinking more water and trying to keep track of the foods I eat to make sure they have fiber. Prune juice helped me pre pregnancy, but hasn't helped since.

I've had same problem past two weeks, like the poop is putting pressure on my back I feel like I need to go but don't, I've been eating a lot of grapes and drinking peppermint tea, it's helped a bit

I have it soooo bad. Fiber gummies (2 a day), Kashi cereal for breakfast, and 2 Colace pills when needed do the trick for me. It's miserable so I feel your pain! Good luck. :winkwink:

I did buy this powdered drink that I was going to use incase it got bad, it says it's safe for pregnancy, from the chemist aisle in my supermarket.

Coffee helps. I tend to eat a lot of soup when I feel too constipated but I'm still hungry! Warm liquids tend to generally help me.

Maybe for a bit of relief from gas, kneel on all fours with your bum higher in the air. Or lie on your left side, apparently that is a good side to lie on and your digestive system will still run smoothly??

Lactulose is what is recommended by my doctor if you are suffering from constipation during pregnancy.

It's so weird, when I was pregnant with my dd I was super constipated in the first tri, I mean I'd go for 2 weeks without going! Gross I know! But then the second tri hit and I swear I was SO regular it was amazing! Like much more regular than ever before, I was going everyday like clockwork and it was great. I expected the same with this pregnancy but it's not happening! :( I think I need to exercise a little more too, I used to go for walks around the building on my lunch break but I'm in Phoenix AZ and now it's like 110 so no thank you lol.

Water, water, and more water! I drink 3-4L per day (granted I'm in the loo every 15 mins but I work from home so it's fine). Also a glass of prune juice a day, that geriatric favourite!
If you can't stomach that much water, add a bit of lime cordial or orange juice.
I've done this through my whole pregnancy and never had a problem, I'm 21 weeks now.

I drink the same and still can grt constipated. I think everyone's system process differently...I sometimes wish for diarhea. Lol

Thanks ladies! So many good suggestions!

I actually do drink A LOT of water every day, but like the previous poster, I'm still having a problem. I've also tried a fibre supplement recently, and last night, I drank 2 huge cups of hot water with lemon...still nothing!

I'm living in a developing part of China at the moment, so can't get my hands on any of the usual pharmacy stuff I could get back home. But I am going to start my day with a coffee today, get some exercise in, eat a bunch of fruit, and I'm sending DH to the little import market to see if they have any prune juice. Hoping today is the day!! And I hope anyone else who's in the same boat as me also gets some relief!

Lol, update for those who care to know :haha: ...I had just sent DH out for prune juice this morning, and FINALLY had some success in the bathroom! I guess I just needed him out of the house :) It seems the hot water with lemon did the trick!!!

I'll have to try this lemon water! I'm working on snacking on prunes and prune juice today. Glad you found some relief!
