I just wondered who is considering taking baby aspirin when they get their next :bfp:

I guess i'll talk to my useless GP but i wondered whether you need a prescription for it or you just buy it at a pharmacy? What make do people take?

xx

I am going to do it. I am going to tell my doctor cause it can cause some complications as it's a blood thinner. I do believe it's simply OTC. no Rx needed.

I don't undertsand, why would you take it? excuse my ignorance but I'd like to know if it helps

Pardon my ignorance, but what is it? What the supposed benefits?

xx

I would also like to know what the reasons for taking this are . . .

Apparantly doctors and fertility experts tell you to take 75mg of baby aspirin a day up until 36 weeks of pregnancy (once you get a positive result). This helps prevent the blood clotting in the placenta and can help reduce risk of miscarriage. Alot of GPs tell people to take it if they have had a couple of MCs.

Some GPs will say 'it wont do any harm and it may do not good' but alot of women say it stopped blood issues.

I dunno, stil in two minds myself

I've been taking it, more so every other day because it's no good for my tummy. I don't have clotting issues, but gyn recommended it just in case. I'm actually taking a break from it now until that fertile period comes around. I guess its just another precautionary measure, with no real harm, from what I understand.

I've thought about this. I've only had 1 miscarriage (only? I think one is more than enough for anyone) but I found this article https://www.babycenter.com/404_is-it-safe-to-take-aspirin-during-pregnancy_1357403.bc so I'm not going to take it unless it's found that I have a clotting problem.

I'm interested in this as I had a Haemotoma (blood collection) under my womb from about 10 weeks, had lots of clots between then and 17weeks when I m/c which makes me think that perhaps this would have made a difference so I may discuss with my GP if I get a BFP.

Good idea Las78
I havent been told why i MC apart from there was no heartbeat but i think my blood may have been an issue. I have had all types of clotting issues in the past and have PCOS and Endometriosis combined. I will speak to my GP to see what they think also

Good luck x

The gynecologist put me on baby aspirin when i got my BFP. I've had four miscarriages in the last year or so. They said that they dont know if it really helps but made me promise to take it every day without fail. I kept to their word and im sure it has been helping.

My first mc was a mmc, i started to bleed at 12 weeks and scan showed that babys heartbeat had stopped after 8+5 weeks. My three other mcs were early on.

I recently had a scan at 10+2 which showed a healthy heartbeat which is the furthest i've got and im convinced its due to the aspirin. Touch wood nothing does happen.

I just want to say if you do get the choice then try it, it might help you.
